May 18, 201214 yr Hi, There's a new freeware version of GMap at FSWidgets. FS9 or FSX Flight Plans can now be loaded. I created an FSX flight plan that passes through all the airports available in FSX. Now, when the Flight map is not available this can be used as a crutch. Clicking on the airport shows the ICAO to identify it. Jim F.
May 18, 201214 yr I suppose that's for the iPhone...? Or the iPad...? I've been looking at GMap for Android in the past but never bothered with it because it couldn't show the route, only your location. BTW I also can't find the free version on their site...? Do you have a link to that updated free version?
May 18, 201214 yr Here's a link for all the free demos: http://fswidgets.com/shop/download_files.php There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.
May 18, 201214 yr Here's a link for all the free demos: http://fswidgets.com...nload_files.php Ah, ok, my bad, of course this is about the regular GMap program and not the one for smartphones.
May 18, 201214 yr Thanks for the info. Still doesn't seem to be compatible with GMap for Android, unfortunately. :Sigh: I'll check it out but, living in single-monitor land*, it's not that useful for me without being able to offload the map to my tablet. * My roll-top desk can't accommodate more than one.
May 18, 201214 yr That's the same version I downloaded when it was first mentioned here some time ago. Version 2.0 because it used that version of the map engine. There was never a version 1.0 for Flight. From the readme: - Initial release is labeled 2.0 as it uses the Version 2.0 GMap moving mapping engine and in order to keep it at the same level as all other editions of GMap for FSX, FS2004 and X-Plane. The little icon says "New Release", not "New Version". Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I've been using GMap for Android since it was first released about two months ago! Never mind, I got confused. This is the PC version for Flight. May 18, 201214 yr I've been using GMap for Android since it was first released about two months ago! With Flight? Because I specifically asked them about it, since Flight isn't listed as compatible (just FSX, FS9, and XP10), and they told me they are still working on a version of GMap for Flight that can link up with GMap for Android. At $15, I didn't buy the app just to test it. It will be well-worth the price if it does work, though.

I get so confused myself at times... :vava: I do have the Android version of GMap for FS9/FSX of course, but at the moment only the PC version is available for Flight. :Cry: Fr. May 18, 201214 yr The link I just posted is to the FREE "Flight" version of GMap for Android. I got it the day it first became available and posted it here in the Flight forum once I'd confirmed that it was working properly. That's the free GMap for Flight Windows program, which I've been using, for displaying the map on your monitor. I'm asking about the separate $15 Android app to display the map on a tablet or phone. The makers of GMap specifically told me that the GMap for Flight isn't compatible yet with their Android app. EDIT: Heh, posted while you edited... Ok, thanks for confirming it still doesn't work. Maybe soon! All the Android version does is show your plane on a map, right...? I wonder why that's worth the 15 bucks... ? All an in-plane GPS does is show your plane on a map, right? If I had room for a second monitor, and Flight didn't force me into windowed mode to use it if I did have one, I wouldn't even consider GMap for Android. But, as is, I have an Android tablet (Nook Color running CyanogenMod, anyway) and it would be a perfect moving-map GPS display for Flight. Add the NAVAID and Airport/Facilities overlays and that would be pretty sweet.

Ditto here - and I do have a second monitor hooked up to my system, but I just do not care for running in windowed mode. I know that issue is on " the big suggestion list", would be nice if they addressed that at some point in the future. Having an Android version would not do a lot for me as I can barely read what is displayed on my phone any more. Don B
May 18, 201214 yr All an in-plane GPS does is show your plane on a map, right? I think you need to check out the manual that comes with your GPS... LOL Even the default FSX GPS offers a LOT more then just a moving map! (Even more then actually could be used in Flight right now. )
