not enough coffee yet this morning, and I'm feeling lazy - I can't find the post about how to move your viewpoint to where it looks like you're "in cockpit"

 

can someone please post a link to it? if Microsoft is willing to give me a free aircraft, I'll fly it - but I want to fly it from where the cockpit should be

Tried the P-51.

This free giveaway is a nice gesture, but it hasn`t changed my opininion.

I refused to buy this cockpitless warbirds before and now i now for 100% sure why.

You can play around with this kind of "aircraft" but you can`t really fly. No checklist, no indication. You don`t know what the actual aircraft status is. These kind of cockpitless planes may be useful for hoop courses, but thats it.

Downloaded ok from the Main Menu. I wish I'd known ahead of time they were giving a warbird away for free -- I wouldn't have spent money on the Corsair. But at least now I can compare the Corsair to the Mustang

I can´t download them by he don´t apears on the hangar...... ¿P-51 redtails has worldwide available?

some reason I can't download it through MS Flight and it isn't available on xboxlive either someone know something I don't?

 

UPDATE: Went to the actual MS Flight website and it shows and a clickable link to get it through the marketplace but once there, it isn't lol. So I am not sure maybe it is because I already own the P51. Too bad I wanted that paint scheme.

ya actually I'm in the same spot....the download button in Flight seems to be dead, and I can't find it in steam...did we miss the freebie?

I can't seen to download this plane at all. It show up on the main menu, but not in the hangar. When I clicked purchase through the main menu, it said retreiving content, and that's all. After a long wait I clicked ok, and the plane is now where to be found. Not even in my downloads.

On a bright note, Alaska may still go out on the 27th.

I have the same problem.... I read the following on the Steam forums.

For those of you having issues getting the RED TAILS P-51 to appear in the hangar or see the 'Getting Marketplace Content...' when you click the Message of the Day:

 

Try to give it a few minutes, the items should be available however to get to it the game needs to download some offer information. If the offer information isn't cached on your computer yet then it won't show up in the Hangar and the Message of the Day will give you the 'Please wait' message. Try fying a job for a few minutes and try again later.

 

This will also be available on Xbox.com early next week and will be available there for a period of time before the offer expires. We were not able to get it visible on Xbox.com before the weekend but wanted to at least show it in the game.

 

If you are not seeing the Message of the Day or the aircraft in the hanger after playing the game for 10 minutes or so please note which country you are in and what language you play the game. If it is not appearing in certain regions we'll get that fixed when everyone gets back from the weekend.

Looking at the download problems over on the Steam Forum is another *facepalm* moment for an experienced developer. Guys, you put out a release on a Friday? Seriously? When most of your staff would be off for the next couple of days and wouldn't be available to address the inevitable new-download problems?

 

I really like Flight for the most part, but jeez these guys seem like the Keystone Cops at times...

I had the issue of not being able to successfully download from steam, but if finally worked when trying through a non-steam version. Pretty comical about doing this and not keeping staff around over the weekend. (wait.... what?)

 

I had not purchased the Mustang, so thanks Microsoft! I am not sure I will use it any more than the other cockpitless planes, but it was a cool gesture.
