May 19, 200422 yr ...is it worth $37? Also...how does it compare in FPS to PMDG/PSS/F1 Meridian? Mainly in the 2D panel aspect. Thanks in advance all for your help!P.S. anyone know when the C130 Hercules could be expected from them? Image Coming... KregE | B757/767 FO
May 19, 200422 yr Hi,I own the CS727, PSS A340 and the whole PMDG familiy. In my personal opinion the CS727 is quite as good as the PMDG birds and better than the PSS products considering the overal impression. You have to consider that if you compare the PMDG737 with the CS727 you compare two different concepts -- a analogue cockpit without a fmc in the 727 with the glass cockpit of the NG. So the 727 has a lot more particular gauges. This makes the readability of them a bit harder because there is no zoom in the 727 2D panel. But CS comes with an optional digital readout for every significant gauge. regards, Tom.
May 19, 200422 yr I second Tom's comments. The CS 727 is my favorite aircraft. It is one payware aircraft I have never regretted plunking down money for. Misha

May 19, 200422 yr being a cargo head I really enjoy the 727 and all the repaints. Plus it is light on the frames, much better than the PMDG planes, actually. Sure it doesn't look as fansy because its from an older era, but still a beauty to fly
May 19, 200422 yr In terms of framerate hits, I'd say the Captain Sim 727 is the lightest of the bunch. I can't perceive any framerate loss with it on my P4 3.0 ghz system. On the other hand, the PMDG 737 definitely takes a bite out of my fps and the Meridian slaps them upside the head. With a whole slew of gorgeous liveries available - from the golden age of the jet-setters to modern day - for no extra charge, captain and flight attendant announcements, lovely virtual cockpit, and good sounds, I'd say it's certainly worth $37. Just my opinion. - Matt D.
May 19, 200422 yr The cockpits (both 2D and VC) are beautifully done. Certainly not a FPS hit since it does not have gauges like PMDG or the Meridian..[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. May 19, 200422 yr Hey,Not to be a downer, but I got the CS 727 when I had FS2002. I've installed all the updates, but I find that while the flight dynamics (FDE) were fine in FS2002, if FS2004, they're terrible. It suffers from the same problem as many other FS2002-made planes with an extreme nose high angle in every flight condition. I thought the updates would remedy that and that CS would re-engineer the FDE, but no, that wasn't the case. While I found the aircraft to be incredible, when going for absolute realism, the FDE is a huge part for me and so I find if difficult to even try to fly it anymore. Just my two cents...-Cal
May 19, 200422 yr Does anyone else have the problem Cal does?I hope that this is not the case with everyone! Image Coming... KregE | B757/767 FO
May 19, 200422 yr Hi, I've had the CS727 since the day it came out. I've flown it in both FS2K and FS9 with about 80 hours total. I rarely fly it anymore because I find the gauges just too hard to see. Yeah, I wear glasses but the main panel and engineers panel are just to small and too busy for my poor old eyes. So if you have good eyesight and don't run your screen resolution to high then I highly recommend it.Willhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
May 20, 200422 yr I don't care for it simply because the angled panels make it hard to find what you need. The Capt will NOT be running the engineers panel period. I wish CS would model the FE panel like RFP has done for the 742. JMHO.Scott Kendall S Mann Still Telling Pilots Where To Go!!
May 20, 200422 yr There are both strong positives and negatives to the CS 727.On the positive side, they've done an interesting and unique job in depicting the cockpit, including the FE panel, as it would be viewed from the pilots seat. It is quite framerate friendly. The selection of liveries is nice.On the negative side, the FDEs are simply stuffed (I use FS2004). EPR gauges are programmed all wrong (they show 1.6 EPR at idle where it should be a hair above 1.0). Fuel flow gauges show incorrect fuel flow...as much as 35% too low. The engine instruments are so small as to be virtually unreadable. The FE panel and overhead panel are all but unusable if you don't know which switch is which...labels and light text are extremely small and unreadable. The flight director v-bar commanded pitch is far too high for the selected pitch rate. For me to use it, I had to re-write the FDE and write a complete set of xml engine instruments. I know what the switches and lights are, so not being able to read the labels is a minor distraction. All in all, it wouldn't be worth the bother to me if it weren't for the fact that my grandfather was one of the first captains on the 727-100 for Eastern Airlines, so flying it has some sentimental value. The CS 707 and C-130 are delayed because a Ukranian member of their development team was deported by Canadian immigration. Wonder what he did...the Canadians have the most lax immigration policy in North America.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
