June 22, 201213 yr I just did some inter-island Jobs and it seemed like the distant islands looked more natural than they used to. They weren't crisp and clear anymore. Then it hit me that there was atmospheric haze, which I have not been seeing before. This was at 3500', so I wasn't up in the weather layers, it was just the normal haze you do see looking across those channels.
June 22, 201213 yr Great pic! What is the lag like now? Less jerky planes? In calm weather I mean! In our full session the multi-user lag was "different"; in some ways it was better and some ways worse; but generally better, such as when we were flying in a group in the same direction. However, a number of us had problems with MUCH more stuttering in the group session. It may be related to the "improved" clouds taking more FPS than before. The session was using the "Low and Threatening" weather setting. There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.

For testing purposes, I had only been joining groups where all players had full bars, so this time I will choose randomly. Are you sure track IR is not involved in this stuttering? June 22, 201213 yr I'm pretty sure nobody in the session had TrackIR installed. I didn't anyway. I was just wondering if the track Ir software had any CPU overhead that might cause stutters. Has to be some reason why some are seeing changes and some not. I am seeing much less pop-up (effectively none) on the ground textures for instance, and there was mention in the patch notes of them working on that as well as some sort of "in cloud" effects (whatever that meant) but that does not seem to be causing an issue for me, either....... June 22, 201213 yr About the stutters. When flying in the pre-patched version, I sometimes noticed very slight stuttering when looking sideways (and everything is moving fast). When I looked forward everything was perfectly fine and utterly smooth. Now I have TrackIR I also notice some more stuttering (though very lightly and not comparable to the FSX stutters I had), but I think this is simply due to looking around and also sideways more... Before I had TrackIR I almost only looked forward and only looked sideways with the mouse when really needed. But now I (of course) look around all the time and I see a bit more stuttering, but I do think that is the same stuttering I noticed when looking sideways before TrackIR was implemented. Again, the 'stuttering' can hardly be called 'stuttering' because it is very minor and I really only see it when I 'want' to see it.

June 22, 201213 yr Anyone find the toe brakes axis kind of.. Inaccurately annoying? They seriously need a sensitivity and dead zone slider. In FSX I can give a slight push and get a response from the toe brakes.. In MS Flight it's as if I'm pressing on the toe brakes about a quarter of the way down before I notice any kind of reaction and it's entirely too sensitive. Check in the standard.XML file to see if the non-linear response curve is enabled by default on your axis brakes. I bet it is. Linear response may be more to your taste. In fact, I think I will try it myself. You can also adjust the null zones in the file.
June 22, 201213 yr No idea what I'd be even looking for.. Like I said, they need sliders for this stuff. Editing xml's for sensitivity and dead zones is a barbaric approach at best. June 22, 201213 yr Yeah, they do need UI controls for these, but the settings in the file are pretty self explanatory and easy to find. It's just a question of if you want to fix it yourself or wait weeks/months for MS to improve the UI.
June 22, 201213 yr Like I said, I don't even have any idea of what I'm looking for in the XML.. Anyway... The update seemed to get rid of the annoying shimmering in the distance and no idea if I'm seeing things but the ground textures look a lot less blurry ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors

The update seemed to get rid of the annoying shimmering in the distance and no idea if I'm seeing things but the ground textures look a lot less blurry You know what's really 'funny'...? I also always had shimmering things in the distance. And I found it annoying. I have flown with the latest patch for a while now and now I read your post and think 'Hm... didn't even notice the shimmers were gone... are they really gone...?" I will have to check but it could very well be they are gone... and I didn't even notice it. Pearls before swine...
June 22, 201213 yr I looked today for the tree shimmering that has always bothered me, and never saw any.
June 22, 201213 yr I looked today for the tree shimmering that has always bothered me, and never saw any. One of the first things I noticed. Another thing is how smooth multiplayer is now. I was just in a dog-fighting match with another player (Zero against Mustang) and before, it was hazardous getting too close because the lag could suddenly move your opponent anywhere, possibly into a collision. Now it was more than smooth enough for us to go nearly wingtip to wingtip, speeding up, slowing down, slamming on flaps or rudder...... The other guy was pretty good and was making me sweat (track IR would have been nice to keep track of him) which made it even sweeter when he finally turned too hard and lost speed, then stalled and finally plummeted to the ground. As in a lot of things about flight, the smoothness put it over the top. Nice job flight team on the new code. I finally saw some of the stutters others were talking about, but it was not at all a deal breaker. Until its "fixed" I can more than live with it. Long live the inevitable Flight Virtual Aerobatic Teamtm We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.
