Man, this game just got a LOT better....

Darn right it did! It's amazing how much more fun the Stearman was this morning with TrackIR working.

I hadn't touched Flight in weeks and had started to think I should keep pouring money into FSX. But, this update plus the additional Alaska images and video clips have totally sucked me back into Flight!

ok, so..

my frames are jumping from 30 to 60 but with no descernible reason for it i.e it might be 60 over some heavy autogen and 30 over a bare bit of volcanic scrub..

the trim (which I have assigned to my little wheel beneath the hat on my Cyborg X) seems to have lost its repeat setting in the control.xml (unless I am going mad) but seems to be more granular anyway.

I _love_ the R key! but, please, somebody tell me how to get rid of the mission marker? I found an earlier thread talking about a cfg file edit; is that still it or is there a better/more specific way? I seem to remember that doing other stuff, too.

The weather is much better. Come on REX with the "RW weather DLC"

The music is much better..i don't know who Xavier Rudd is, but it sounds like the Allman Brothers to me :)

My panning has gone up the spout. I have really slow panning; I tried changing the POV entry from 32 to 1 and it hasn't seemed to make a difference. It also seems to pan left-right faster than up-down..are there two seperate entries for this? The R key pan is really fast...

All in all a good update so far...back we go...

That's still the only way (unfortunately):

It is where you select the toe brake axis,

Thanks mad dog... I was actually having a bit of trouble finding this as well, and it was right in front of me! :)

Thanks, Jeroen..I'm off to try it now..

Track IR is pretty much impractical with a laptop, right?

Track IR is pretty much impractical with a laptop, right?

From the TrackIR site and manual:

The TrackIR can be easily and securely placed onto most standard laptop screens without any additional equipment.

Using the mounting clip, you can secure the TrackIR to any surface, including laptop and flat panel screens.

And on this page you can see TrackIR on a laptopscreen:

So... it should be okay, I guess!

It's totally practical. I've only owned a laptop for the last 5 years. The little camera plugs into a USB port and can easily, quickly, and safely clip to the top of the screen (by design). It takes about 1 minute to set up before I want to fly (+ another minute to set up my Saitek AV8R). When I'm done flying I put it all away and am back to a normal laptop.

KEWEL!

Thanks Jeroen! I was looking at the pictures and just thinking that mounting the receiver would be impossible..

Thanks Malibu, too... time to break out the CC!

What, then, is this fine aeroplane if not a SuperCub ?

With the update i had impact on my fps. Had to go down from max to high. But disable vsync improves it without having the bad stuttering.

The trim buttons also seem to work more smoothly...

To me, not so much. I had a few manually altered controls in my config file. When I went to set up controls ingame, left rudder trim would not repeat. Right worked fine, but for some reason the repeat line was absent on left. I had to go in manually and add the repeat for the control. No big deal, since it gave me the opportunity to go in and delete some duplicate controls schemes that were in there. All my controls are working as intended!
