EZDoc Newbie question.. I want my hatswitch back

Featured Replies

I just installed EZDok and went flying.

IT has hijacked my Hat switch and I want it back. I got it back by global dsiabling the EZDok.

How do I take the default settings of EZDok without it taking my Hatswitch?

yeah..it wanted me to disable the hat switch (and some other keys) and define them via EZDok

Thx

It works ok now within VC but from external view the hat switch is restricted. Hmmm

This is really annoying.

The Hat switch positions from the external view and the VC is the same..so I turn around in externel view (BTW I can only do a siingle 360 horizonatlly..the vertical part of the hat switch is not working. When I come back into the VC, t my original VC position is now off.

The Hat switch is too important to be messing with it. Sigh!

I want to use the standard Hat switch and I don't want EZDOK doing anything with the HAT Switch.. Any ideas?

I am going ti dsiable EZKOK till I figure out how to get my valuable HAT SWITCH the way standard FSX does it.

I have never returned anything to Flight1 so far...but this is going to be my first.. It has annoyed me enough.

Don't mess with what works.. FSX Hat switch works darned good. Its my primary mode of looking around when flying. Can't give up that even a small percentage.

All I wanted was the eye movement and shake when flying. In FS9 there used to be a simple tool (Active Camera??) that did that. I just wanted that feature.

It's certainly one of the most user unfriendly programs I've ever used but once it's up and running it's hard to fly FSX without it. The devloper has a YouTube channel walking you through on how to configure Ezdok with your stick. Be sure to bookmark it or add it to your favorites for when you have to do a reinstall as it's easy to forget how to get Ezdok running smoothly again.

I would rather use custom camera views in the VC with EZDok than to pan around with the hat switch. Of course, I am one of the TrackIR + EZDok users, so I have the best of all worlds according to my personal preference. Have you tried VC camera views with EZDok? If you are using a popular aircraft, you might even be able to search for a EZDok profile with predefined VC views.

I managed to advance a bit. It is the learning curve thing for sure.

After Idisable the j keys I need to redefine them eexactly as it was withing EZDOK. So I get back all the old commands.

OK.. need to be a little patient.

I wish they had all the same commands already defined within EZDOC as part of the install.

Thing is, for my CH yoke, EZDok doesn't even make full use of my hat switch: it only recognizes 4 directions though FSUIPC and other software recognizes 8.

OK..I thought I got this figured out..but now Its giving a whole set of new griefs.

1) the default zoom level... why the freak would they select a default of .4? and worst of all..if you change it you can't save it.

so I spent an hr googling and I thought I found a solution. I was told there is this file *small*.cam and *HEavy^.cam etc where you can modify the default zoom=40 to something else to get the default 1.0 zoom. With trial and error and a lot of blood pressure shooting up I think I got the zoom issue solved.

But it only solves some of the aircrafts.. the geniuses must have some other files that are specific to some aircrafts that would not take this value. No idea where the (some aircrafts) aircraft specific zoom level is for these" exception" aircrafts. Even if I find these files,..do I have to go and change it for each and every addon and livery? And why is this not in their config tool?

2) the Left arrow and right arrow key to position yourself in VC works for most of the aircrafts but for the PMDG 737 or the F1 Citation it doesn't work at all..

3) In the F1 Citation, it has hijacked my electric trim from my yoke for zooming to the G1000 MFD. Now why the freak would they arbitrarily take over keys like this? Whats wrong with the bloke? \

Sheesh!

The only thing good and useful from EZDOK is in the VC bounce or movement of the aircraft.. There used to be a freeware for this for FS9. When we moved to FSX we kind of lost this.. and I thought this was good for that.,. and it is...thats why I am willing to go over all this hurdle to get that effect. But they have made this so hard. I don't care for anything else in this tool. Golly!

What happened to KISS concept for software development (Keep it simple stupid?). I don't mind if they add all these functionality...but that should be optional for folks who want it.

Isn't there another tool that would give us this view/aircraft shake without all the other overengineered nonsense?

As you can tell. I have a love hate relationship with this EZDOK crappy/awesome piece of software. Ha Ha!

You should be able to change default zoom level by pressing the edit key an then simply use the mouse wheel to adjust the required zoom. When done, press edit key again to save it.

Nope; you have the best there is, Manny. Ain't it a B****!

I sent mine back to Flight1 2 or 3 times before I bought it. Jeff and I were becoming good buddies!

Seriously - like Shane - I am also one of the TrackIR + EZDok users, and couldn't fly without the pair. Same with assigning all control keys to FSUIPC. Stick with it - a light will suddenly come on, and you'll wonder why it made you feel like hanging yourself.....

1. It's my understanding that EZDoc works by aircraft name. If two aircraft have the same name (as displayed at the top of the EZDoc studio) all other aircraft with the same name should work the same....I hope. At least that's how it works for me.

2. You might want to see if you have those keys assigned to something in FSUIPC for the PMDG and Citation. Only a guess.

3. Never seen any problem with it hijacking something. Again, the only thing I could think of is that you might have the electric trim assigned to press keys instead of directly to the trim command in FSUIPC.

I don't have either aircraft...just the J41 but it works well there. I did have some conflicts when I started but I sorted them out.

Good point Greg, other things to consider, do a rescan with ezcaconfigurator, if you added a repaint or an aircraft, you MUST run the configurator so it scans your FSX, otherwise weird things will happen.

Another suggestion, and do this last, reinstall fsuipc over the top, dont uninstall, simply do another install to ensure variables are in place.

I dont have it installed atm, but I was the same as you - I need my hat-switch. fullstop.

From what I can remember its a small option in the control settings for EZCA (Ezdok), selecting this will make your hatswitch work again like it did

Dont give up, EZCA is a awkward program but if you ignore most of the settings and just use it for the shakes its great

Providing you followed the setup steps correctly, the Number 2 on the keypad is the button to turn on and off the edit-cam function
