June 25, 201213 yr As some of you would have noticed a review has been posted on this card. Can anyone confirm how much better it is over a 580 when just using a single monitor?? My understanding was that the 690 is the equivalent of two 680s SLI'd internally.
June 25, 201213 yr I can't see buying a $1000 card for the difference in results. I have a 580 now, and I'm very, very happy with it. If the difference were significantly different for FSX, I would certainly invest in it; I don't interpret the results as significant enough. Stan
June 26, 201213 yr Peoples who buy a 690 (usually) do play other games as we all know that a 590 or 690 is 2 cards fused together and no better for FSX compare to a 580 or 680.
June 26, 201213 yr Wonder if it will run 3 monitors @ 2560 x 1440? Need a second job to buy it though.

For those wishing to run 3 monitors. One can buy a GTX 580 @ 500.00 and Matrox triple head for 300+. fairly close to the price of a 690 with one less piece of hardware to worry about and setup!
June 29, 201213 yr You don't need a 690 for 3 monitor support, the 680 does that just fine and with the same level of performance for FSX. Also much higher resolution than what TH2Go offers. I'm now running at 7960x1440 on mine :D
June 30, 201213 yr I'm now running at 7960x1440 on mine :D Tech guy, how much FPS were you getting on monitor and how much FPS are you getting on the same part with 3 monitors? My FPS just dropped from 30 Locked and butter smooth to sub 15FPS on 3 monitors surround. Hmmmm,, Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
June 30, 201213 yr Only been able to play around in a couple stock aircraft around Friday Harbor so far, so not terribly stressful but FPS was 100-150 according to the built-in frame counter. When I have some more time I will do some benchmarking again. Hopefully next week, but no promises since it looks fairly busy for me already and this weekend's not likely either.
September 25, 201213 yr Im running 2 x GTX690's in SLI with an Intel Core i7 3960X and the performance is staggering. Yes I know this will be seen as total overkill but my logic is supported by the fact that I have just replaced my Dell XPS720H2C after five years of fantastic service which at the time of purchase was also overkill. At Jackson Hole in FTX with all sliders at max including 100% traffic in a Carenado C208B with hires textures I have over 60 FPS. In the air this rises to >150FPS. I know that such FPS are meaningless in terms of what you see but in terms of smoothness and fluidity, its a whole new sim. However I was nearly very disappointed when I first fired up the new system. Initially I had severe pauses and stutters and for a moment began to think how stupid I'd been. It was only when I read Robert McDonald's excellent review of the card that I realised I should turnoff vsync, the improvement was instant, so a huge thanks to Robert. Regards Adrian
