July 9, 201213 yr Now we know what Southwest is going to do with all those AirTran 717s John-Alan Pascoe
July 9, 201213 yr What's interesting about the announcement, is that they are intended to replace regional aircraft, not the aging EX NWA DC-9 fleet, which would be a 1 to 1 match for them. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
July 9, 201213 yr It is a good solution to get them through the remainder of the poor economy, by the time that lease expires hopefully Delta will have healthy margins to make a big order for 80 to 100 new regional jets. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
July 10, 201213 yr It is a good solution to get them through the remainder of the poor economy, by the time that lease expires hopefully Delta will have healthy margins to make a big order for 80 to 100 new regional jets. I hope not! Bigger jets is what we need. No more of selling to the lowest bidder! Chris Miller
July 10, 201213 yr I hope not! Bigger jets is what we need. No more of selling to the lowest bidder! I'd like to see an order from Delta for 100 or so 737-MAX when these 717's finish the lease term. Delta has a lot of 757's and 767's moth-balled at the moment (25 I think). They want to replace the older 757's with 737-900 ER. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
July 10, 201213 yr I remember using 717's in FSX. Does anyone know of such a plane with a VC being available? Stan
July 11, 201213 yr It would be nice to have a good payware FSX Boeing 717 with a detailed VC. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be more interested in 737s and 777s at the moment. July 13, 201213 yr Argue with me if you want, but, why is Delta advertising this on Facebook and etc. as if it was a big deal? Who cares? They're old, out-of-production, gas-guzzling, 717s. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
July 13, 201213 yr Gas guzzling? I was under the impression that the Rolls Royce BR715 turbofans on the 717 were rather fuel efficient..... Where did you get that info? The engines were designed in the late 90's. They are about as efficient as could be during that time. Chris Miller
July 13, 201213 yr The CFM56's were designed in the 70's, CF34's early 80's...until these geared turbo-fans get online line the BR715's are just as if not more efficient than 90% of the stuff flying nowadays. Patrick Houghton
July 13, 201213 yr They're old, out-of-production, gas-guzzling, 717s. Wow... 1) no older than anything other than the A380 and 787 2) sure, but so what? 3) no more so than many models now.
