Interesting sceneries under development

Featured Replies

Look at the German Airports Team, Sim-Wings, FlyTampa, Drzewiecki Design, UK2000 or FSDT (except KLAX, that's another story).

Their FS9 products are fully blown versions with only those limitations that really exist from the technical point of view and are impossible to jump over. And that is so clear and fair!

Totally agree, but I wouldn't put FSDT on the same bag. I own almost all their airports and the tendency for rushed, unpolished ports from FSX to FS9 has been increasing. The support also reflects that mindset, you feel like they're doing you a favour by offering an FS9 version, regardless of the fact you are a paying customer. Want a good example?

Now German Airports, Sim-Wings, Flytampa, Drzewiecki or Uk2000 are a class of it's own, and in my oppinion, they offer the best sceneries for FS9.

Regarding HESH, it's a shame that FSDG chose to treat FS9 this way. This was a must buy from me, and now I'm undecided. Specially after seeing that the photo scenery and autogen can be added in a couple of hours, with good results.

This link leads to a thread about KLAX.

Exactly why I wrote 'except KLAX, it's another story'.

Completely understandable! nodding-1.gif

As well as being a questionable business practice, I don't really understand why a designer would want to release an inferior version of his/her work... As my dad always said, "If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing well." If investing a few more hours of work would result in the FS9 version being almost as good as the FSX, then why not do it, even as a matter of personal pride in your own work?

Oh well, we're probably wasting our breath complaining about it, but it really is a shame. By contrast, there's the German Airports team releasing free FS9 upgrades of their airports to previous customers, and they are HUGE improvements. Free. Now that's what I call taking pride in your work and taking care of your customers!!!

I couldn't agree more, Ian.

I guess this is what separates top notch developers from the others.

My thoughts exactly! It is a vicious circle...

Talking about Fairbanks and voilla, we have new preview screenshots:

Yes I indeed saw the screenshots appearing. Makes me very excited! Anchorage is feeling rather lonely. With OrbX's Ketchikan (yes I know it's FSX only. I don't use FS2004 any more) and Aerosoft's Dutch harbor, we will have various nice destinations in Alaska to choose from. I hope Juneau is next!

Hi Ben

Because we like you, we will allow you to post in our forum, even though it's for us purists and not for less serious simmers AKA FSXers!

JK mate!!!

But we FS9ers do have some good options for Alaska, though I'd kill to have a good Dutch Harbor scenery. We have Aerosoft PANC, freeware Glacier Bay with an excellent Juneau and payware Tongass Fiords, along with Georender Alaska. A flight with an iFly Alaska 737-800 from PANC to PAJN in real weather is about as good as it gets outside the RW - fabulous scenery for the visual approach and take off segments, cruising at FL330 over clouds with the peaks of mountains visible and a really, and I mean really challenging approach to execute into Juneau. And the three addons above all give some great bush flying opportunities. So HUGE thanks and kudos to Aerosoft for giving us Fairbanks to enhance what is already a rich experience.

Cheers

Ian

ps. To my good friends on here - I may be disappearing off the forums for a while. I am expecting delivery of my new PC today so I'm going to be - barf - reinstalling for the next few days. But when it's done - FS heaven!!!!

If I have bad luck with it, I will be blaming you. Your comments about how smooth everything is with a fast computer was what clinched the decision to buy a new one. So I will be holding you personally responsible if it turns into an expensive debacle!

:LMAO:

(JK of course!!!)

your new pc with fs9/fsx will be super smooooooth and fast. Just wait and see when u install everything. FS9 with my $500-$1000 in addons just looks amazing on my i7 pc. FSX(for VFR) runs ok on my pc also but i love fs9 more because i'm an IFR chick  He%20He.gif :girl_devil:

Even at my work we have alot of pilots and cabin crew people that fly fs9 more than fsx. Everyone keeps telling me how smooth and stable it runs on many systems.

Really? You have PAJN? How come I didn't know that... Could you post a link to the scenery you are talking about?

Oh, and thanks for letting me post in your forum ^_^

You see Ben, if you hung out with the right crowd, you'd know these things!

PAJN is the major aiport, along with a number of smaller ones (my favorite is Skagway) that comes with the freeware package Glacier Bay 2 from the wonderful folks who also gave us Tongass Fiords. It is one of the best freeware packages ever released. There MIGHT be an FSX version - I'm not sure. But in FS9, it shines!!! You should find it in the files section

Cheers

Ian

Wishing you a smooth installation Ian. :excl:

So far, so good. Got two good installations - backup on C drive and the main version as standalone on D drive. Basic FS9.1 with various tweaks to stop onscreen messages, needing to have a certain CD in place etc... Now comes moving over my all my hardware - controls, GoFlight modules etc. And then on to FS9.5.... I'm worried about running out of disk space though - with FS9 installed on the D drive I've only got 979 GB of free disk space left!

:LMAO:
