July 16, 201213 yr Have u seen ImagineSim's KEWR http://secure.simmarket.com/imagine-sim-newark-liberty-intl-kewr.phtml
July 16, 201213 yr Lots of nice stuff coming! I bought a new PC about this time last year with the intent of installing FSX. I still have not even tried to install it because I enjoy FS9 too much!!! I've completed every single flight without any crashes of the software. I'm scared to move to FSX for fear of its instability! haha
July 16, 201213 yr Have u seen ImagineSim's KEWR http://secure.simmar...intl-kewr.phtml LOL, Thank you, yes, I have been using it for 8 years now... That is why I said a KEWR to the standard of these new releases... Sadly it is dated, horrible on FPS, suffers from terrain bleed through, you need to MIP the textures yourself to prevent shimmering and frankly it is the worst scenery I still use in FS9 but as KEWR is my home base I have no choice and we share a love/hate relationship. ( Not to mention as this is the FS9 forum but a good new FS9 version would undoubtedly result in an FSX version as well and there is none in FSX, not even an 8 year old outdated poor performer...) Thank you though. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
July 17, 201213 yr Thanks for this thread Rafal. Don't jump to conclusions re Phoenix ...no guarantee that Flightbeam WILL release for FS9 yet. I sincerely hope so however. Personally wrestling with the decision either to buy these sceneries (incidentally no mention of Doncaster by UK2000) or adding the PMDG MD11 belatedly to my hangar(s). They were VERY clear the product will be released for FS9. Do a forum search there.
July 17, 201213 yr Author Sharm El Sheikh has just been released (for both Fs9 and FSX)! If you are interested: http://en.shop.aeros...anguage=english شكرا , FSDG!
July 17, 201213 yr Time to find my credit card! Sharm el-Sheikh came out today too. LUIS LINARES Processor: Intel Core i9 6700K 9900K (5.0 GHz Turbo) Eight Core; CPU Cooling: NXXT Kraken X62 280mm CPU Liquid Cooler; System Memory: 64GB Corsair DDR4 SDRAM @ 3200 MHz, RGB; Graphics Processor: 11GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, GDDR6, Primary Drive: 2TB Samsung 850 Pro Solid State Drive (SSD)
July 18, 201213 yr I was just about to buy Sharm el Sheik at Aerosoft but am a bit hesitant. It seems to me that the FS9 version has less features than the FSX version. With things like Oliver Probst's AESlite dynamic ground traffic and other recent improvements, I don't see why Aerosoft can't give the FS9 versions of some of its sceneries as many featurs as FSX if it is capable of supporting them. I haven't bought a couple of their more recent sceneries for that same reason. Any feedback from those who have purchased it? I'm probably going to get it anyway, but just wondered.....
July 18, 201213 yr Author It seems to me that the FS9 version has less features than the FSX version. Unfortunately that is true. We had some discussions about it at the FSDG forums: http://forum.flights...c.php?f=3&t=952 http://forum.flights....php?f=10&t=588 Thorsten did not decide to add surrounding hotel resorts even though they are key landmarks when approaching Sharm. It is a pity really, although the airport itself seems really great. I hope we can make FSDG change their minds and add more scenery as an update some day.
July 18, 201213 yr Aviasim is doing Salt Lake City for both FSX and FS9, although it will be a long time in development. http://www.aviasimdesigns.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=45 They will also be doing Sacramento International airport. / CPU: Intel i7-9700K @4.9 / RAM: 32GB G.Skill 3200 / GPU: RTX 4080 16GB / Freight Pilot
July 18, 201213 yr Hi Rafal I can understand their decision to not have dynamic ground traffic, even though AESlite is better IMO than default FSX ground traffic. But I don't understand not including the same surrounding buildings in both versions. I get it from their point of view that for the same price we are getting both versions. But from the perspective of someone who is FS9 only, it's as though we are second class customers who get an inferior product for the same price... I'm sort of just venting - not wanting to put them down as I appreciate that Aerosoft continues to market products that include FS9... But as I reach for my credit card, I'd like to think I was getting the advertized product and not a watered down version... But it's an inexpensive scenery so I'll probably go ahead and get it anyway. I just wish it didn't feel like.......... Cheers mate Ian ps. This is not the only product where this has been the case, and with the others, I have chosen not to buy them... My feeling is that if they really don't want to support FS9 users, then just release them as FSX sceneries....
July 19, 201213 yr Author Hi, Ian! Yes, this is all some rather difficult stuff for me to discuss and understand. Especially after waiting for a product so long and, even worse, letting people know about it here in the forum. On the one hand we are very glad to be still getting new addons for FS9. But clearly some developers treat us as, like you wrote, second class customers. I mean they decide to release FS9 versions for the same price as FSX but give us half-baked products. While in case of some addons (like e.g. Orbx ultra-high-resolution airfields) I can understand certain limitations against FS9 development, in other cases I can only feel sorry. The arguments I will read against adding some features to FS9 products are at least fuzzy since others do it without a problem. I understand high resolution ground textures will not look the same in FS9. But is it a reason not to add any? And not to add some surrounding buildings BECAUSE OF it? Since the developer already paid for the photos (for the FSX version) just reduce them and add in FS9. I don't mind having lower resolution ground when it technically cannot be higher. I have a lot of payware scenery for FS9 where photorealistic ground with autogen or custom buildings were added successfully and look more than good. At the same another developer will tell you it is impossible, but pay the same price as FSXers who get so much more. And the problem is many of us WILL pay just to get the dreamed airport. They know it and this is, in my view, where the sad and unfair part of the story begins. Look at the German Airports Team, Sim-Wings, FlyTampa, Drzewiecki Design, UK2000 or FSDT (except KLAX, that's another story). Their FS9 products are fully blown versions with only those limitations that really exist from the technical point of view and are impossible to jump over. And that is so clear and fair! I am aware money today is mostly on the FSX side, and it would be silly to think different. I am also glad FSDG did make HESH for FS9, as they may have decided not to. But if a developer decides to create an FS9 product (most still do) and offers it to me, I am a fully paying customer. Not a worse species to take money from and be waved away. My words today are quite strong but, similarly to Ian, I again have (to say the least) mixed feelings after this release. Even though I was waiting for it for so many years. In my personal opinion not adding some (let it be limited compared to FSX) surrounding objects to the scenery type Sharm represents, is an unfair decision of the developer.
July 19, 201213 yr After reading your links to the FSDG discussions Rafal not only do I agree with Ian's post above and your reply but I come away with a considerable degree of disquiet pertaining to their (FS9) customer support. I own Djerba and am ambivalent towards it. I doubt I will own Sharm all things considered. I will purchase the ( in development) Cairo scenery. Although possibly improper to raise support issues to a wider audience I do think us ol' timers have a duty towards our fellow hobbyists/simmers to do just that. I salute you Rafal. :clapping:
July 19, 201213 yr I agree with both posts above. It's one thing to recognize some limits to FS9 compared to FSX - we all understand that. But to leave out elements that could and should be in the FS9 scenery just because the developer doesn't want to spend some extra time doing it isn't acceptable. The Djerba scenery mentioned above is an example. When I first saw it was for FS9 and FSX I was excited - but when I read that the FS9 version didn't have the surrounding scenery I decided not to buy it. Now HESH is the same. If UK2000, FSDT, SimWings, FlyTampa and Drzewiecki Design (to name some) can do it, and do it very well, then the only reason I can see for not doing it is -- not caring enough to do it... Many of us have chosen to stay with FS9 for good reasons and in doing so, have accepted that we will miss out on some things. That's okay. But I don't like being offered an inferior version of the same product unless it's based on an inherent restriction in the FS9 platform. Sadly, I think I will pass on HESH... Ian ps. The irony of course, is that if a lot of us choose not to buy it, that will reinforce the notion that we are a dying market. A good example of a "self fulfilling prophecy" - sad....
July 19, 201213 yr Author The irony of course, is that if a lot of us choose not to buy it, that will reinforce the notion that we are a dying market My thoughts exactly! It is a vicious circle... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Talking about Fairbanks and voilla, we have new preview screenshots: http://forum.aerosof...04-fairbanks-x/ This and more preview screenshots can be seen at the above link
