Alaska Aerocaches by the dozen

Featured Replies

Do you guys think they are going to implement several (more than one at a time) aerocaches for Alaska?

I'm really really happy we are getting daily aerocaches there...they are a lot harder to obtain in Alaska cause the scale of the place is to much bigger, at least that's what I find. I like it!

But still, if you toggle the filter in Flight to show Alaska aerocaches, we still get the "No aerocaches in selected area", so there are still no "normal" aerocaches there, only aerocaches of the day. I Hawaii I would stumble on aerocaches randomly all the time and it was awesome.

Well that brings up a question: Are most people actually flying to theses things, or moving their planes around the map?

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I normally fly to them, or at least, I did in Hawaii. With Alaska being so much bigger, that's going to force me to skip around to collect them.

I can't justify 6 hours of flying to collect an aerocache!

Well, for the last 2, all you had to do was start at the airport and walk to them.

The first one (the volcano) I flew to from the closest airport, which is my normal procedure. I would hope the future ones would be more like this.

There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.

So how many Alaska Daily aerocaches have we had so far? It would be nice to see them all listed somewhere.

And I agree, it would be nice if MS made them permanent so you could always find the ones you missed.

There have been 6 ACs until today.

Cheers, Stephan

I set up a flight plan from some airport and fly to the Aerocache.

Willow - Unfortunately, I couldn't get this Aerocache, but I flew the plan anyway. Start at Toad Lake (got to love that name! ), do touch-and-gos at a bunch of strips, head West to collect the Aerocache, then finish at Reids Landing.

McGrath Aerocache - I started the flight at Tatalina and flew over to McGrath.

I never have the Aerocache Sensor on - not that any of these have been hard to find. Nor do I ever start the Hunt in the air.

I too wish there were a list of Alaska Aerocaches.

Best regards.

I flew to McGrath from Dalrymple's, east of Fairbanks. The terrain sure looked a lot like east Texas and southwest Arkansas... except fewer towns and such. :)

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I fly them usually. Its the challenge of it. Now I have skipped on a couple of the 200+ NM missions they are a bit much lmao.

And I agree, it would be nice if MS made them permanent so you could always find the ones you missed.

+1

Willow - Unfortunately, I couldn't get this Aerocache

search between AK90 and 3AK1 ^_^

Sorry about my poor english language :Hypnotized:

Merci, l'ami, trop tard. The Daily Aerocache is gone forever, and when you miss it, there is no way to get it again.

Best regards.

My suspicion is that at some point they will take all, or some, of the daily aerocaches and make them regular aerochaches. Maybe when they release the next scenery pack they'll do that and move on to having daily ones in the new area. It's not how they've done things in Hawaii, but it seems like a reasonable way of doing it.

that makes sense actually. I'd prefer if they delivered a whole bunch of new ones, but what you suggest sounds likely.

There have been 6 ACs until today.

So including today 7/23 I have these:

1-Strato Volcano

2-Elmendorf AAF

3-Rohn Roadhouse

4-Hoonah Bridge

5-Willow Iditarod Checkpoint

6-McGrath Airport

I guess I have them all so far. ??
