August 13, 201213 yr Author Great Show guys....One of the best Games I've ever seen. London did a fantastic job. New Zealand came out with 5 Golds, 3 Silvers, and 5 Bronze. Great showing for a country with only 4.4 million from the bottom of the South Pacific. :zeland-flag: Congrats to everyone else as well... Cheers Seems a bit boring life going back to normal now
August 13, 201213 yr Yes, what a great games, caught a bit of the closing ceremony last night, what a show. Any British person on here should feel proud of what you have managed to pull off over the past 2 weeks, and what I'm sure will be pulled off in another few weeks for the para-olympic games. I quite liked the closing words of the president of the IOC "I instruct all the worlds athlete's to assemble in Rio in 2016" - Definite air of the original olympic games about it.... Indeed any country that won a medal, or even those that only just took part should be proud of the achievement, it's not often we stop to appreciate how someone from our own nation can rise up and compete amongst the best athletes in the world, so fair plé to all those invloved. [And congrat's Matt on NZ's 6 Olympic gold medals, you can rest assured that you now act as the aiming point for Ireland for what a country of a similar size to us, if not slightly smaller can do on the world stage, well done to all of yee...] Oh yeh, YEY Ireland, we got 5 medals this year, best since 1956, and we got a gold!!! :ireland-flag: Ró. Turbo: Still not forgotten, and still on early SH rotations to Britain until Saturday, will be sure to send you an advanced warning for an LGW flight if it comes up. Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
August 13, 201213 yr Make that 6 Mathew, Valerie Adams has now been awarded gold, as the original gold medal winner failed a doping test. I woke up this morning to that news. Amazing Unfortunate for Valerie who wasn't able to receive that gold during the medal ceromony but glad to see it go to the real winner now... Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

August 14, 201213 yr Per Capita....New Zealand came in third: Looking at the total medals won per capita, the winner is Jamaica with 225,000 people per medal, thence 329,000 from Trinidad & Tobago, 341,000 from New Zealand and Bahamas with 354,000. For the top three overall...The United States with the most medals was 3 million Americans per medal, and 15.5 million Chinese people per medal. And for the host nation United Kingdom....They came in at 950,000 people for each medal and third over all. Congrats to London and the United Kingdom. Like I said before....for every medal won means far more to the smaller nations as we put so much more into each medal. Jamaica is the biggest winner in these Olympic Games in my POV.
