August 6, 201213 yr It was more a joke on my part really. We got 3 gold medals in New Zealand so far, 2 that came in the same hour for Rowing. This nation celebrated during that hour as it was considered historic. The USA it is more like a news report......6 more gold medals yesterday, 5 more today....etc etc that people don't even keep track anymore. For all the other nations taking part one gold medal means a lot more then the over 60 gold medals between the USA and China. Jamaica is probably celebrating their 2 gold victories more then any other nation at these Olympics so far. For them those 2 medals have a lot more meaning. August 6, 201213 yr Funnily enough I just happened to flick on the TV for a moment, only for Womens Beach Volleyball to be on, the wife nearly ate my head off... It was only on for 30 seconds... :( What if every Olympic sport was photographed like beach volleyball? Glad you've made it.
August 6, 201213 yr I stopped watching the Olympics when they let professional athletes sully the games. Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules

I agree completely here, Ireland has only ever won 23 medals, and only 8 of them were gold, since we won our independence back from under the British rule in 1921 and declared a Republic again. We haven't won gold since Atlanta (bit of an oopsy with the show-jumping back in '04 ). Winning ANY medal is a MAJOR deal for us, never mind gold... @TurboTomato: Sorry bout the LGW thing, still haven't been put on it yet but haven't forgotten. Still busy as heck but with LHR instead. If worst comes to worst, I'll just trade off for a LGW sector some day in the near future with and catch you then . Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.

GB's done well in London as well. Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

August 7, 201213 yr NBC is a disgrace to sports broadcasting in general, but they've reached the peak of idiocy this year for sure. For anyone that thinks their sport broadcaster is sub-standard, take a look at this and get back to me on that... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=510_1344196881 [Caution, strong language.] Rónán. The New Zealand coverage is very neutral by comparison and covers a global perspective, with follow-ups on local athletes. They're not neutral and they make some stupid comments, which is my problem with them. NBC is a disgrace to sports broadcasting in general, but they've reached the peak of idiocy this year for sure. August 8, 201213 yr For the record though guys, that was a ###### take in case any of yee think otherwise, we aren't that bad... Love it.....You guys are almost as bad as we are.....Here is one of New Zealand's most popular TV Shows: http://www.nzonscree...-dogs-show-1981 Cheers Personally speaking, I grew up in rural Ireland, and used be well versed in hearding sheep. My dad has a medal for a competition like that on the show. I myself wasn't much good at it in open spaces like that, but I could bring them up the road no bother [still can]. Molly and Rossa, our dogs when I was of age to be helping on the farm, never seemed to think much of me asking them to heard. My brother was great at it though, he's the one running the farm at the minute. Took over from my dad a few years back, but he still has a hand in it. I can certainly see the entertainment factor in a show like that, some real tension in with the first man taking the sheep up there. I'm sure a show like that would do reasonably well here with Ireland with the rural demographic... Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
