What does he say after landing?

Featured Replies

Right after the landing roll. 'We need xxxx.' What's the xxxx? Seems like he's waiting for an answer on that one and I don't know what he has asked.

if using gsx, "do you need follow me" is one i hear !!

for now, cheers

John, are you able to share your mce.ini settings? My fo says nothing after landing, he is just glad the torment is over! LOL

Now that makes sense! Follow me. Thanks for helping.

Here's the answer

'It should be "do we need follow-me?" (TTS voices will speak that correctly). Unfortunately, the recorded voice packs are lacking the word "follow", because they were made a while ago. As it proved a real challenge to automatically select the correct gate from the endless lists, this has been placed on the 'back burner' for now

What should happen, is that if you say 'Yes' to the FO/Klingon then the GSX/AES interface should appear and you will have to 'manually' make the selection from the GSX\AES interface.

Could someone check this on their next flight? I will on mine later on today. I've never got the GSX interface up before, because I don't under 'Klingon' from my FO! SO wasn't sure what he was trying to say.

I can confirm, a 'Yes' brings up the dialogue for the follow me. Thanks for clearing that up.

I mean, I could just have answered anything to see what happens, but since I didn't understand what was asked, I though about something like 'would you like to drop the wing tanks now?' and remained silent. :Worried:

I dont get any quotes, but as soon as i exit the runway i get presented with the gsx menu asking what parking i wish.

my settings are the default .... yes, i even use native rather than gsx and / or aes !!

actually, i don't start mce until taxi (avoids interference to gsx & aes door use) and then use macros for gate selection on landing !!

the "follow me" is nothing more than a nuisance ... & i don't like the idea of using mce to select gates on arrival (not exactly real).

frankly, i'd rather mce have no interface with GSX / AES except for pushback ... after all, when was the last time the tech crew initiated baggage / catering etc.

most of us surely can invest in a macro keyboard such as as a logitech g510 to set up gsx gate sequences !

mce is great when the aircraft is moving ... imho !!

PS: answering yes to "follow me" only works if you are arriving at a non FSDT airport ...go figure as they say !

for now, cheers

of a similar theme, i am always asked by the copilot (whilst taxing to departure / on finals ) .... " do you know the runway in use ? ".

i can't find reference how to respond though have found notes on how the pilot can ask for weather etc.

is it just more nagging ...any thoughts would be appreciated.

for now, cheers

Not nagging, just tell him the runway: "07" or "runway 34 Right"

You can also tell him "We are going to JFK" and he will repeat the destination, you can also tell him "landing runway is 07" and your first officer will have the information he needs.

thanks for your note ... essentially i have always answered as you mentioned.

it is that i rarely receive a response to my answer & when i do, it is sarcasim about not answering the question (which i had).

from your notes, i gather then there is no reponse to be expected to my answer and the sarcasim is probably a comment based on mis-interpretation !!

for now, cheers

Hmmm no, he should "read back" the runway you gave him.

Next time you fly, before you taxy out, try telling him "departure runway is XX" and see what happens.

Dont forget you can also tell him departure airport, v-speeds so he calls them out for you, and destination airport.

See how that goes.
