Any ideas what this object might be?

Featured Replies

it would be an Identified Flying Object

What about the identified unidentified objects? No kidding, there are unknown unknowns and known unknowns.

By the way, I love that pointer Howard used. Where did that come from? I mean, that's what I call a pointer.

Why is it that EVERY picture of a UFO is always out of focus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The reason is because on both these pictures on this thread, Howard and I were taking landscape shots. So the camera focused in and captured the landscape. An object moving off in the distance would be out of focus and moving for the duration of the camera shutter opening to capture the still shot.

Therefore the object is out of focus and kind of elongated due to being captured moving with the shutter being opened. We weren't focusing on it, zooming in on it or tracking it because we didn't know it was there. If we had used zoom lenses and tracked the object during the shutter opening then we would have capured it more clearly.

I am thinking Howard's object is appearing like a long cylinder because of the shutter being opened for the duration of its travel, So it is appearing longer then it actually is. Howard's object also appears at high altitude and high speed.

It's a good one Howard

Please stop doing that when taking UFO shots! :P

Of course, if they "were" in focus they wouldn't be UFO's!!!

Exactly....There is always a very good explanation behind these objects.

When you zoom in on the moving object and track it, then the background well be blurry...just like in this image:

That's no UFO, Matthew. It's most likely an Acura. You can't trick me. Geez, it isn't even flying!

More on Howard's object. Sound reasonable on the open shutter. But the light seems good (day) and the wind power thingies come in sharp (were they turning?), so the shutter may not have been opened that long.

If it was, the object was fast to cause the prolonged impression being that far out. Not?

By the way. We should really watch Howard, seems like he steps on roads to take photos and doesn't care for traffic. ^_^ And we don't know where Kim Schmitz was at that day.

aah... UFO talks.

Coltrane, you have to leave an explanation for Matthew's or Howard's object. -_- Wait, you can't because 747-fan has used that device on you, right? :o

Ok, I'm happy to report that I've found the object from Howard's picture (for Matthew's objects, ask your local Acura dealer :P ). This user has a picture of it as his avatar. http://forum.avsim.n...509-betelgeuse/

I hope you are feeling better now, Howard, knowing about it. Now get off that road! ^_^

I reckon it's a bird with it's wings almost edge on to the camera, but just slightly tilted over.
