August 19, 201213 yr Hello, I have an Radeon HD7870. Since Nvidia cards are a ton better for FSX than AMD/ATI, what nvidia card would my 7870 be equivalent to? Also, the only reason I got an ATI GPU was so I could use eyefinity. Is there a way to set up three monitors with Nvidia? Thanks
August 19, 201213 yr Nvidia Surround is supported [by a single Kepler GPU] and is typically better than AMD Eyefinity. I would recommend a GTX670 if you want good performance while using 3 displays.
August 20, 201213 yr @cobblecat435: Did you try the AMD card with 3 screens? IMO Eyefinity is far better than Nvidia Surround, just turn down the clouds in FSX with AMD, and use the Shader3 Mod, then you are OK.

But the one i can afford for now is the GTX 560 1GB . I have spend lots of money on a new I7 Extreme processor for music production etc.... So i can only afford the GTX 560 card. If anyone can give us some details about this card would be nice. Thanks i don't want to repost the same thing as the OP i don't think cobblecat435 would mine me posting this question in his topic . Mr Leny CPU I7 8700K @ 5.0GHz , MOBO -Asus Maximus X Hero (WiFi AC),GPU - GTX1080 TI , RAM - CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 16GB DDR4 3600MHz SSD -Crucial MX500 1TB (P3D Install Only)OS- Samsung 960 EVO 500GB (Window 10 Pro 64)
August 22, 201213 yr Hey am also planning on moving to a new GTX card . But the one i can afford for now is the GTX 560 1GB Be sure to take at least a GTX 560 TI ! And read Word Not Allowed'S remarks about the difference in performance between a 560 TI and a 580 (or higher) in FSX so that you won't be disappointed : http://forum.avsim.n...-guide-for-fsx/ I took the GTX 570 from ASUS (better cooling than stock, slightly overclocked, and 1,28 GB ram) because i couldn't afford the 580 then and i am very happy with the performance. But now the new GTX 660 TI looks very promising ! With kind regards, Bart S.

August 22, 201213 yr Make sure your power supply can handle whatever you end up buying! A 560ti is fine if you only have one monitor running off it. Bert
August 24, 201213 yr I have an Radeon HD7870. Since Nvidia cards are a ton better for FSX than AMD/ATI, what nvidia card would my 7870 be equivalent to? After the tests I just ran, I would seriously question that statement. I just ran the benchmark with my 5850 and I am getting 27-30 fps solid and smooth with no jaggies. Only the top of the line nVidia cards are doing better than that, and I have a 4GHz CPU and a 2-3 year old 1GB ATI video card. I am not sure what to think about it, to be honest.

Did you test with heavy clouds? I find that hard to believe.
August 25, 201213 yr I have this one: http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AMD_Series/EAH6970_DCII2DI4S2GD5/ - and with heavy clouds I can bring it down to 10-15 FPS, even when it´s overclocked to the limit, and with an i7 2700K at 5.0 Ghz. When I fire up Shift 2 Unleashed, no problemos amigos! Get Nvidia for FSX, AMD don´t do drivers for FSX anymore, and there´s some shader problems too, which Bojote says he fixed with the Shader3Mod, but I doubt it has any effect...
August 25, 201213 yr Did you test with heavy clouds? I find that hard to believe. I did the GPUMark in heavy clouds. Averaged 27 fps. I did see 30 a few times. No jaggies. What is your tessellation setting in CC? I changed mine from 64 to 32 and it made a world of difference. I also use the shader3mod. It did make a difference!

IMO Eyefinity is far better than Nvidia Surround, just turn down the clouds in FSX with AMD, and use the Shader3 Mod, then you are OK. Eyefinity rocks. Glad nvidia finally got that going. Took them long enough! Tesselation in FSX? Hmmm...? Really, I think it´s "placebo" on your behalf, I don´t believe these claims, sorry... Actually, that was the problem. I ignored the setting assuming it had no effect. But it does, on both performance and quality. I was very surprised. You want me to make a video? When i get back later i can including the GPUMark test.
August 25, 201213 yr What is your tessellation setting in CC? I changed mine from 64 to 32 and it made a world of difference. ??? FSX does not support DX11 or tessellation. This is impossible.
August 25, 201213 yr ??? FSX does not support DX11 or tessellation. This is impossible. I never said it did. But when i do change this setting in CC i see a difference. No idea why.
