September 1, 201213 yr Yes, a manual would be welcome ! ( f.i. what exactly does ' Alt Air' do....? ) It's an alternate air intake that bypasses the main filtered air intake on fuel injected planes if the filter has become clogged (ie: Ice). It can be automatic or manually engaged depending on the plane. I'm willing to bet though it is just a useless animated lever in this plane though as I've never seen filter clogging simulated before. ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors

September 2, 201213 yr Thanks, Bill. The engine sound reflects that of the carb heat turned on in other planes when you switch the Alt Air handle but the rpm gauge does not, only very minimal.. The Carb Temp does though. ( thanks tube & rag ! ) as I've never seen filter clogging simulated before. Just watch A2A... :smile2: Jan
September 2, 201213 yr I will add that, returning to simming, I checked whether Robert Sanderson's Stearman75 has been adapted to FSX and was disappointed to see that it was not the case. Wonderful bird it was It was! With DX10 it won't even load the textures.... The just released Vertigo Stearman is nice but does not match the Waco very well... Dunno about the fuel computer, i just top of the tanks and watch those nice outside fuel gauges... B) Jan
September 4, 201213 yr Just finally picked this up tonight and... I love it.. The ground handling is unbelievably good. This is the first tail dragger I've had where I can comfortably do the side to side steering while taxing to see where I'm going.. I taxi'ed for 10 minutes just because I was so happy to finally have a tail dragger that had ground handling done so well. Others can be done but they just never felt like you were kicking the rear end around and really steering it. I do agree though it may be a tad too sensitive.. Easy to feel out and reduce your rudder movements though. No big deal at all. Flight wise I love it.. Add in some EzDok camera movements and this plane just is a blast to lumber around.. The plane feels heavy, it feels lumbering, it feels like you need some skills to pull off correct acrobatics in it. It feels like a 2200 rpm 300hp biplane with a wood prop.. I can average out a nice 800fpm climb. Super high quality VC, super high quality exterior model, decent selection of liveries and a Stolle flight model all for $20.. Yeah.. I'm not going to complain a single bit.. ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors
September 6, 201213 yr There is a service pack released. Just log-in and check under your account ay Alabeo. I believe it fixes Jan's issue. SOH Staff

September 7, 201213 yr Picked this up yesterday and am delighted with it. Can only endorse the positive comments above. My FSX hangar has been sorely missing a quality biplane, and you cant argue with what you get for the price. Neil Burgess
September 7, 201213 yr One question, Guys; is it DX10 compatible? There's a growing number of simflyers - me included - that are using only DX10, thanks to Stevjp's patch, so it's a biggee. If it is - it's mine! September 11, 201213 yr Discovered an issue with the Alabeo Waco YMF5 last night... It causes serious frame-rate issues when more than two are flying in close proximity together online (multiplayer.) Those I was flying with all agreed that the problems experienced were probably due to the high-res modeling of the Waco not being very multiplayer friendly. We had wanted to get several of us together for a large formation screen-shot with all the stock and several third-party skins being flown, but every time we got more than three (in stock liveries) within a couple miles of each other, the pillots all experienced serious FPS slow-downs while looking at or toward the other Waco aircraft. Frame rates immediately improved to normal while looking away from the other Waco aircraft nearby. Which made formation flying for the objective of screen-shot imagery less than enjoyable (or possible.) I found that on my system (system specs on the left) I could continue flying well with no more than two other Waco's nearby, but still had a slowdown of close to 10 FPS (from a solid 30 to a variable 18-22.) If a fourth (or more) Waco came within my viewing area the FPS slowed down to the 10 FPS area, making the sim nearly unflyable. If there are any of the Alabeo staff reading these user-reviews, I implore you to investigate the possibility of making a multiplayer compatible version of the Waco YMF5. In it's current state the Waco is useful only for single player flights. "Sandy"
