September 18, 201213 yr Dana, both PMDG 747 and Level D 767 should have a RB211 variant. --Peter Fabian
September 18, 201213 yr Author Most of my T7 flights have been on UA, so I really enjoy the sound of the PWs. But, I finally got to experience the Trents a short while ago and I'm in love. Just something about that growl/whine when spooled up for TO that's just so awesome. Plus I think it's cool that they are a 3 stage engine. It would be great to see an N3 indication in the sim (afaik there aren't any ac for FSX that have the Trents modeled). Ah mate you need to experience the GE90's on the 77W or 77L. I to flew UA for a few years straight before Air New Zealand back last year/early this year. That was my first time on the 77W, I can say that it's my favourite out of them all. The trents are definitely my favourite on the 772ER, especially in a BA livery  Also just for your information on the EICAS screens, the RR & PW use EPR as the primary whereas the GE's use N1. 777's with RR/PW's will have EPR, N1 & EGT on the supper EICAS whereas the GE's will just have N1 & EGT :-) - Luke Pabari
September 18, 201213 yr I LOVE General Electric, on every aircraft it's my favourite engine. Best engine sound of all time: General Electric CF6-80C2 equipped on the 747-400, Arjen Vandervelde
September 19, 201213 yr Best engine sound of all time: General Electric CF6-80C2 equipped on the 747-400, YES :Big Grin: :Nerd:
September 19, 201213 yr Ah mate you need to experience the GE90's on the 77W or 77L Yes, I would love to make a trip on a W someday. Just a personal quirk of mine (I do this on the NGX) I like to keep the secondary engine page on the lower EICAS. That's where you'll find the N3 display (yes I know you set power based on EPR on the RR and PWs). I'm sure I'd be quite impressed with the W and the GEs, I mean they are the largest jet engines in production! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dana Palmer KJAC
September 19, 201213 yr Best engine sound of all time: General Electric CF6-80C2 equipped on the 747-400, No! Steve Bell "Wise men talk because they have something to say. Fools talk because they have to say something." - Plato (latterly attributed to Saul Bellow) The most useful tool on the AVSIM Fora ... 'Mark forum as read'
September 19, 201213 yr No! Sounds great but doesn't beat the GE version! :Big Grin: Arjen Vandervelde
September 19, 201213 yr Too many donks on the old 'coal burner' equals too much fuel. Round trip Rio the 777 uses almost 25 tonnes per sector less fuel for the same payload. Gorgeous aircraft though the 744. GregL :-)
September 19, 201213 yr I'm going to respectfully disagree with you all and say that the L-1011's RB211s are the best sounding ever. By the way, hello everyone! First post...lol. Cameron Rich
September 20, 201213 yr Nice video of the L-1011. Brings back memories, however fuzzy they are. I was a sophomore in High School when I rode on an Eastern Airlines L-1011 from KATL to KMCO for a trip to Disneyland, the other legs were on a 727. Ah, the good ole days! A.J. Domingo
September 20, 201213 yr I was fortunate enough to ride on one of ATA's TriStars efore they kicked the bucket...all the way back in 2003. Even with all the security stuff and whatnot at the time...at least they fed us. Cameron Rich
September 20, 201213 yr Author No! Ugh, that noise, that departure. So many memories, such a great sound. I can't deny that's up there. - Luke Pabari
September 20, 201213 yr Love the engine noises from the RB211 on the 747. Best sound you will ever hear Thomas Wills
September 20, 201213 yr You might not like these GE's as much as I do, but in my honest opinion, no engine sound is ever gonna beat THIS: Arjen Vandervelde
