September 15, 201213 yr :yahoo: the improvements are awesome on my ATI rig, more FPS in HDR mode with max settings. X-Plane 10.10 RC 2 Updated road art assets. The updated art assets contain more details and more templates for better road grids. "Open" dialogs now faster for users who had a "Custom Scenery (disabled)" folder. Read more here. Joystick axis now appear red in the dialog if they're uncalibrated or unassigned. Red means the axis is not going to work properly so fix it! Slightly improved Joystick calibration wizard. Runway and taxiway lights improved to be visible at various angles in a more realistic manner. NOTE: Taxiway lights SHOULD be difficult to see in many airborne situations. This is NOT a bug. This is how the real lights work. Aircraft: Electrical system fixed on F-22, F-4, Baron, Kingair, and Piaggio. Fuselage shadow fixed on C172. ATI Windows Drivers: This build works around sRGB problems in HDR mode and turns off sRGB for non-HDR mode. I am a member of the ATI driver beta program, and have tried newer drivers that fixes the sRGB problem for non-HDR mode. 10.10r2 is programmed to recognize these newer drivers and turn sRGB back on.What this means to you: HDR mode will look good for ATI Windows drivers. Forward rendering will look okay but the night scene will be overly bright and a bit 'wet' looking in the far-ground. When the next revision of ATI drivers comes out, things should just start working. I haven't been able to reproduce the bug where clouds appear as crazy triangles; if you have this, please get latest drivers, re-test against rc2, and re-file a bug report so we can get more information.
September 15, 201213 yr Whow! X-Plane10... what else :-)))) ? In my system, and even if it was already performing very well, this RC2 is smooth as silk even on a crowded Lisbon night approach to LPPT 03, twilight flight (low) over downtown Lisboa, with full HDR! Great candidate fro 10.10 Final ! Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
September 15, 201213 yr Everything looks very nice but my frames have taken a real hammering with this release. Running an NVidia GTX580, so whatever they did to make AMD cards perform better had the opposite effect on mine. Even with the famous "Set all options for best performance" button (60fps+), if I switch HDR on it drops down to the twenties. Deleted my preferences but no difference. Shadows and objects also penalise my performance more than they used to before.

Full HDR settings now with the 26.77 you see in one of the pictures above. Previously it was around 16-18 Hi JComm I take it all back! In fact I noticed my frames were also right down in RailWorks so I restarted the PC. Lo and behold I can now report that my frames have never been so good!! Quite the opposite to my previous post so please disregard. Well done LR and for me another inch towards XP and away from FS/P3D. Just please let us have PMDG-style instrument controls and I beg of you BRING CLOUD SHADOWS BACK !! Thanks Jcomm (don't know your name), your enthusiasm is an inspiration to us all ! David

David have you tried the new 777 released last week, it reminds me of a mix of Captain Sim and PMDG all in one package.
September 15, 201213 yr Thanks Jcomm (don't know your name), your enthusiasm is an inspiration to us all ! David David, nice to know that your sorted it out :-) J=José :-) C=Carlos ..... one of those long latin/portuguese names... I'm really "investing" in this X-Plane10 platform. Just started exploring the new features brought by Plane-Maker in v10, and really regreating having no experience in 3d modelling tools... I would certainly try to design / assemble my own models otherwise, but for now I am satisfied with simply being able to use those that come default with X-Plane10 and play around with some of their parameters in PM. This doesn't mean other simulators don't have their potential as well, specially if there are still much more add-ons available that fit one's preferences (airliners i.e.). I believe that with time more and more 3pds will start developing for X-Plane10. The t7 FlashIsis mentioned is a good example, although really not the type I am interested right now, even having been a dedicated PMDG 744 user and, even more, a true Aerowinx PS1 addict :-) When someone has invested considerably in FSX I see no reason to abandon that platform, or even not to try P3D, should she/he have the time / money / capacity (my main limitation...) to keep "current" on multiple platforms. X-Plane10, being a lot more active/dynamic than those platforms offers of course much more chances of giving us growing reasons to spend more time playing it than any other flight (or space) simulation platform. Austin and LR keep feeding it with new features, fixing problems, etc... And there are yet other projects very worth the mention - Fllight Gear, and Vehicle Simulator being two good examples. September 15, 201213 yr I would agree the 306.23 WHQL drivers do very well for my GTX 560 too. Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.
September 16, 201213 yr Well, Phantom and Donald, Thank you both for the hint to upgrade my video card drivers. I have a Nvidia 450 GTS, and was using a rather old driver version... Well, the upgrade to the 306.23 WHQL Nvidia drivers represented a good improvement for my X-Plane10 fps, even at full HDR / Antialiasing settings, and even running my PC in "Power Saving Mode" (one of the three available in my ASUS motherboard, and the one I use the most for ecological and €€€ reasons :-) ) Tested with night/dusk/dawn approaces to Lisbon, an then to KSEA, with OSM scenery active for those areas, and an average 4-8fps. September 16, 201213 yr Looks really good. Good frames here. There is something different with the scenery and I cannot put my finger on it. Are there more lights? One thing IMO should change is the amount of halo around the the lights. Both the high pressure sodiums (orange) and the white pole lighting. Bob Officially retired

Bob They added street lights that work (turn red, yellow and green) and improved several other features. XP10 is turning out great and it's depressing me for spending over $1000 in the past 6months on fs9/fsx when I should have bought XP10 from release day.
September 16, 201213 yr and it's depressing me for spending over $1000 in the past 6months on fs9/fsx when I should have bought XP10 from release day. Well, at least default scenery + OSM if you want, and a lot of freeware add-ons secenery and aircraft are also available, so, this plus the increasing number of features Austin and LR add's on each new version, will at least give you a lot of fun without having to spend that much money. OTOH, while I prefer X-Plane10 over any other sim right now, I still think that FSX has good offers if you're up to the big irons.... The new 777 by Ramzes looks great though, and other will follow most certainly. Well, X-Plane10 also shines when it comes to helicopter flying, something that no FSX add-on can duplicate (otherwise RA and A2A would be releasing their own models...) September 16, 201213 yr Maybe it's placebo but this release looks good. I installed those Clouds HD XPX today, what a difference (my compliments to the author)! Had a very nice flight too; impressed that XP10 looks better than FS even with hundreds of euros/dollars of addons. All I've added are those clouds and UrbanMaxx!
