October 13, 201213 yr I didn't even know this magazine existed. I think I might subscribe... [/quOTE] I think I might download a copy form here http://secure.simmarket.com/computer-pilot-pdf-vol-16-iss-2-junejuly-12.phtml to see what this magazine has to offer. I never read this, probably because I've never seen it on the shelf in Ireland. Anthony O'Brien
October 13, 201213 yr Author I have always found PC Pilot to be an excellent magazine. I've subscribed since the first issue and never had a problem with delivery.
October 13, 201213 yr which is tossed into the 'Junk E-mail' folder and locked down due to the high security risk of the attachment. that is true, we will also add the text to the mail. A lot of consumers likes the download of the letter for the archive. You need to stop sending unsolicited emails, it's actually a violation of U.S. law to continue. so, how do you want that to be contacted to renew the subscription? Since the new ownsership, we are based in Europe. So the law and the IT system is different. We are changing everything (and it is very expensive!) to be conform with the US Law and to be like an US based Magazine, but it isn´t so easy to change all this. The new Computer Pilot Service is based on the best known Flight! Magazin structure, based in Germany. A merger between two magazines. To work with two different offices, service departments will be to expensive for a flight sim magazine. I think I might download a copy form here http://secure.simmar...nejuly-12.phtml to see what this magazine has to offer. I never read this, probably because I've never seen it on the shelf in Ireland. on www.computerpilot.com on the right widget corner, you will find a free issue to read online. I have always found PC Pilot to be an excellent magazine. I've subscribed since the first issue and never had a problem with delivery. I'm in the business since 2007, over 50 magazines send out and without problems. We will also fix all the Computer Pilot Problems. The change from the former publisher to a new one, always come with problems. We are working hard to fix als problems, to continue with the magazine, to deliver the best flight sim magazine.
October 13, 201213 yr I just got another unsolicited email from your organization telling me that my subscription (which hasn't been active in many years) is about to expire and I need to renew. Your email is not even professional in nature. It's completely blank with only a PDF attachment in it, which is tossed into the 'Junk E-mail' folder and locked down due to the high security risk of the attachment. You need to stop sending unsolicited emails, it's actually a violation of U.S. law to continue. Also received this message last night, precise and concise, right to thr point I may add.... especially annoying in my case since I renewed my subscription thru the Computer Pilot website almost a month ago... Communication problem perhaps ? Alain from Montreal
October 13, 201213 yr I renewed my subscription thru the Computer Pilot website almost a month ago... Communication problem perhaps ? sorry, maybe a problem in the IT System, a missed link / connection from your "new" subscription and the old one. To have improve the database, all renew is created with a new subscription. Because with the first jun/jul we received over hundred of magazines back, with false address, names, ... I will forward your name and status to our service dep, to check this.
October 13, 201213 yr Thank you Marc, looking forward to the next issue ! Can you please tell when it will be published ? Alain from Montreal
October 13, 201213 yr the next will be the jan/feb 2013. we will try to publish the magazine before xmas. but only if we fixed all the subscription and delivery problems before. with our Flight! Magazine we are publishing 12 issues / year, the "new" computerpilot will continue with bi-monthly in 2013, but if the sales will be fine, we will step forward to monthly. And good news for the iPad Fans, our App is in the final approach for the app store.

October 13, 201213 yr Updating my prior post on this thread, here is a good way to go guys (and gals). PC Pilot is a great magazine. http://www.pcpilot.net/ Very professionally done. nice publicity for PCP in our Thread  (not fair, but nice) my opinion about the competition discussion, you can not compare the two magazines, we are totally different. PCP is part of Key Publishing, the World’s Leading Transport Publisher (source: KP Website). The Computer Pilot is published by flight simulation fans, people like you and me. no commercial idea behind, just our passion for the flight simulation. We are not publishing the Magazine to win money with, we are publishing our articles, informations to help to sharp the Flight Sim Community. Yes we don't have access to the same financial power or service level. Sorry for this, but we are doing our best, the best for our passion, for your passion. No one on board of the CPM is working full time for the magazine, every one has another job in the life. With Computer Pilot you are supporting the only independent printed magazine for the Flight Simulation, no add-on publisher behind, no commercial idea. That's a big difference to the other magazines. About me, I'm working for an advertising and event agency, that's my full time job. The Aviation and Flight Simulation is since 1995 my passion, my love and my life. That's the reason why I take the risk, to rescue the very known Computer Pilot Magazine and in 2007 the Flight!. It will not be easy to rescue this magazine, to redevelop the concept, to improve the service, but my team has the courage to try and do it. And we will need your help, your support, your feedback and for sure, your loyalty.
October 13, 201213 yr You need to stop sending unsolicited emails, it's actually a violation of U.S. law to continue. No. I hate to point out, but you are wrong. You just admitted that you had received a subscription of Computer Pilot a few years ago. If you have ever done business with a company, then that is legal reason enough for them to contact you to see if you are still interested in their product. Had you never done business with them, then they would be in the wrong. I also got the subscription renew notice by email, and I welcome it. Thank you. I have taken advantage of the discount and renewed my subscription. The attached .pdf form was very professional, but I would also suggest that you provide some text in the body of the email in a professional format. Attachments with blank emails look too much like virus infected emails. Also, another suggestion is that you send regular emails to your subscribers (if they elect to receive them) and give them a kind of teaser for the upcoming issue, with previews. This will keep them looking forward to every issue, which is especially important since they are bi-monthly. Also, you should consider making YouTube videos that relate to articles within the magazine. For instance, if a tutorial is printed step by step in an article, make a YouTube video on your channel, that will further illustrate the tutorial. Or if you do a review of an addon product in the magazine, make a YouTube video that builds on the article . I believe that would add a new dimension of interest to each of the articles and you can reference the link to your YouTube channel within the article or, better yet, send an email to the subscriber for that month, with all of the links to the YouTube videos along with any other promos. No one on board of the CPM is working full time for the magazine, every one has another job in the life. With Computer Pilot you are supporting the only independent printed magazine for the Flight Simulation, no add-on publisher behind, no commercial idea. That's a big difference to the other magazines. It will not be easy to rescue this magazine, to redevelop the concept, to improve the service, but my team has the courage to try and do it. And we will need your help, your support, your feedback and for sure, your loyalty. I think it will be great and I intend to continue to support Computer Pilot Magazine. I would like to see articles on things like setting up EZdok Camera (maybe with some links to profiles of popular addon aircraft), Getting the most out of weather programs like Active Sky 2012, Opus and REX. Even showing how to combine them to get better weather. Captain Mike Ray, writing an article on realistic flying of the NGX put in the beautiful style of his articles. Taking advantage of scenery and setting up scenery in the FSX or P3D library to the most advantage. Where do meshes go best? Where does photo scenery go best? Where do airports go? Is it best to turn off scenery that is not being used on a flight? Be sure to keep your reviews really honest. At the beginning note if the aircraft being reviewed is for beginner, intermediate or advanced simmers, Too many times I see a wonderful review of a product, then it says only a few systems are functional within the aircraft. Obviously (in this case) the review is of an aircraft designed for a beginner that is only a little better than the default aircraft. This needs to be said right at the beginning of the review or I won't be putting much stock in future reviews from that author. With aircraft like the PMDG NGX, the visual quality and systems bar has been raised so high that most payware addons can't match up, yet there are still many payware addons that I enjoy very much. A short list would be: The Leonardo Maddog, Coolsky's Super80, Coolsky-McPhat-Flight1 DC-9, Captain Sim 707 and 727, Quality Wings BAe 146, Blackbox Airbus 320. All of these are great aircraft that advanced simmers can enjoy, Each have their own special features that make them stand out for education and entertainment. For instance Coolsky has the user interface to train the user and quickly fuel and setup the aircraft. Maddog is a very accurate reproduction of the MD80 that has many training books and videos about it, etc. On the other hand, you have the original version of the Airbus X from Aerosoft and aircraft by CLS that are directed toward the intermediate simmer and I know that there are some others out there that are extremely basic and just a little better than default. Mostly just by visual graphics. The reviews should be balanced to cover all of these classes of sims, but state clearly, right at the beginning which class they are, before I read the whole article. It would be nice to do a good article, reviewing the Level D 767, and how it compares to new aircraft being produced, since it is still a big favorite among simmers after all the years that it has been out. Ok, I'm just putting out some ideas. I'll leave it at that for now and keep reading my Computer Pilot Magazine. Bob Robert Yunque
October 13, 201213 yr Marc, You are absolutely right, I may not have been fair -- it wasn't my intent to be mean or unfair to your magazine. Being very honest, I was a little miffed when your billing firm got things very wrong and sent out a very irritating email and implying I was in arrears on my payment, almost an intimidating letter. Yes I think this ruffled many people the wrong way. But something I need to keep in mind is what has always been my goal to support the "small guys". Thus, I normally don't shop at the larger franchised stores and try to give my money to the local business people, especially with the economy as it is. I want to support the smaller entrepreneurs. Thus said, I have put my money where my mouth is. I just subscribed to Computer Pilot Magazine. Obviously, you are a person of true passion and commitment in what you do. I truly hope you do succeed. So here is a challenge for other folks like myself who received the intimidating letter from your billing agency. I hope others will be forgiving and take a chance (and yes I do think it is a chance) and subscribe to your magazine and trust that you are doing everything possible to succeed in your endeavor. I wish you the best. Jack
October 13, 201213 yr It sounds to me as if some flightsim enthusiasts (people like you and me) purchased or otherwise took over a magazine that, for whatever reason, was about to go out of business. Who knows what shape the database of customers and contacts was in? Some people may be getting emails asking to subsribe when they are already subscribers and some might be getting emails when they shouldn't at all. There may be wrong addresses on some subscriptions. It might take some time and hard work by the new owners to sort it out but they are obviously trying. It's also pretty clear the customer support system was not in good shape. But it's equally clear that there is concerted effort to bring it back on track. Subscribers who have not received past issues have been told they'll receive them and subscriptions will be honored even though the cash used to purchase the subscriptions is long gone. I think the new owners should be given credit for honoring these. However, to ask them to put up cash for refunds when clearly this would come out of their own pocket and not the company coffers is asking too much in my opinion. I had a look online and this is a great magazine and adds a lot to the flightsim community as it is and also has the potential to expand it if people pick it up at airport kiosks or wherever and decide that flightsimming is something they want to check out. Until demonstrated otherwise, I think we should be giving this magazine and the people behind it all of our support and give them a little leeway until they get the issues sorted out.
October 13, 201213 yr on www.computerpilot.com on the right widget corner, you will find a free issue to read online. Marc, Do you intend to put this magazine on the newsagent's shelf in Rep. of Ireland???? Anthony O'Brien
October 13, 201213 yr I paid the original outfit for a two year subscription and of course they took my money and quickly sold off the magazine. I got one magazine maybe a month or two ago and now I get an invoice for a subscription fee. This whole thing is going bad. I don't know if the problem is with the old pub or the new one, Maybe both. "Why, he just jumped into the air and kept right on going."
