Main development of the AS2012 SP2 update has been completed and we are now in the private beta test phase. Soon we will be releasing SP2 as a public beta for those AS2012 users who wish to participate.

SP2 includes many graphics including dozens of new clouds, new waves, and new taxiway/ground textures with increased detail, shadowing, scale and realism. Several bug fixes and new improvements have also been implemented for an even better weather simulation experience.

Check back here for the latest SP2 development news, coming soon!

We expect to have a public beta available within the next 30 days.

How soon is "soon" for public beta?

How soon is "soon" for public beta?

well, as soon as the private beta testers get through with it. HiFi has maintained high quality by releasing products when they were ready, not before. As a beta tester, I have a responsibility to give my feedback and if there is an issue that requires attention and might cause a delay - so be it.

Patience - you will not be disappointed!!

Well for me AS2012 has given me very accurate weather depiction in every condition. I am more than satisfied with it and thankfull to the guys who are working hard to make this software even better!

As I flew from VIDP yesterday with AS2012 active, I experienced a spectacular thunderstorm, some of it flashing above the heavy cloud cover. Worth every penny!

Why not stick to the topic?

I am expecting SP2 somewhere in December. usually HiFi bring us new toys around that date (ASA, ASE, ASX...)

I NEVER get heavy cloud cover.....No matter what the real life conditions are.

Why not? Have you adjusting settings from default? Perhaps you are experiencing option effects that are not anticipated. Please contact us and we'd love to look at this.

Regarding other recent posts:

Please remember that this is the HiFi Active Sky forum, not a place to promote competitive products. This is for the discussion of Active Sky.

We've been lenient recently about this but enough is enough. Please see our forum rules (stickied) if you have any questions.

As for an update on SP2: We have been reworking the graphics even further based on initial private beta feedback and this delayed things a little. The wait will be worth it however.

- New graphics variation option to “Prevent this item from being used in Wx-Influenced selections” – Checking this box will prevent the item from being used in any wx-influenced selection – By default, certain variations from SP1 will be prevented, using a bias towards SP2 graphics

- Documentation updated to reflect option/screen changes

- New official Prepar3D support! See documentation (initial “Important Stuff” chapter) for more information – Prepar3D paths need to be manually set accordingly

- Fixed problem with Flight Plan Import on waypoints/intersections using 0.000 Latitude/Longitude

- Fixed problem with program crash when choosing the “Influence” button on sound items within the graphics item detail screen

- Fixed locations of stations EGCN and EGSY in locally distributed data station database

- Fixed problem with crash when clicking on map with stations enabled yet no stations are within visible range

- Station OIIE added to server fetch and default distribution (existing users must manually add station to data stations or update data station list from server to enable)

- Adjusted very high altitude temperatures to be slightly colder than previous in SP1 (by approximately 10%) – affects temperatures above 52,000ft only

- Fixed problem when in Standard depiction mode and “Disable Winds Aloft” is checked where aloft winds would mirror surface winds – Now aloft winds are null in this condition

- Added more room in Wx Report screen for textual TAF area to permit more than one line when using larger DPI/Font setting (3 lines available in normal DPI setting)

- Fixed problem caused by some SSD devices causing re-activation issues (reactivation requests should now eventually stop after 1-2 new re-activations after installing this new update)
