Any bets how long it takes for this thread to go ugly?Greg

I'm really curious as well--I know there will be some takers, although I'm surprised this wasn't released with the more commonly flown 700 or 800.But also I advise "buyer beware"--I knew the package would come in at a high price, but at 1.85 pounds to $1 U.S., that exceeds $90...IMHO Bobbo is snubbing his nose at the core of the MSFS market with that type of pricing--trying an old trick of making you think it must be good because it's priced like a Porsche, while at the same time making you think you'd be part of the "elite" by being able to "afford" to buy it.I hope nobody comes to the decision to purchase because "it must be good if it's $90" or "wow, I can be a member of the elite". Since I know some will buy it, Here's hoping it's worth every penny: :-beerchug -John

Yea, looks good, but $95.00 US:-shy Waiting on some feed back too.:-eek

Yep, would certainly be interesting to know if it lives up to all the hype. But at

How many fake accounts does Mr.T. have?

geez, at $95 a pop you'd think they could aford to at least be on a dedicated server instead of a shared one which i havent been able to properly connect to anyway for the past 6 months ....aaahahahahaha!Dave

Try $121.72 Canadian!!! :(They'd better be pretty amazing reviews! Mike F.

Hi all!The short story is:The exterior model is second to none, and is absolutely stunning. I think that they have PMDG beat here, but that is just my opinion. The flight model is okay, and does rival PMDG in many areas. It is both better and worse than the PMDG model...The virtual cockpit is a hybrid mix of 2d and 3d panels. For instance, the FMC is not clickable in the VC, but if you click on the FMC a 2d FMC windows pops up with full functionality. The INS is the same way, non functional in the VC but clickable in 2d mode. There is no cabin modeled in the airplane, just the forward galley with light controls and interactive galley and main entrance doors. So, those of you who crave wing views and cabin interiors will be disappointed here. Those of you who think those things are a waste of time and video bandwidth because pilots fly from the cockpit, will find this just fine. The VC is optimized for performance so the textures are not as crisp as the PMDG NG and this may or may not bother you. VC gauges are more fluid in the PMDG offering but if you click on the gauge to enlarge it, the Ariane vector gauges are crrrrrisp. So, the bottom line is, you have to make your own decision. You may like it, you may not, Not much help I'm afraid :-(Take care,Mike T.

MikeWhat about the logic? The things-you-never-see-but-is-so-important. Like A/P behaviour, FMC software functionality. How is the ILS capture and following? What about the flight dynamics? What's the support when it comes to AIRAC data changes and changes in terminal procedures? Can you program procedures yourself, is Richard Stefan's Navdata involved? So many questions and so little access to www.arianedesign.com :-(Cheers,

At least for me your post is helpful...I'm not one for virtual cabins except in light GA jets--they eat bandwidth. But anyone who has been in Detroit in the winter, which I have, has seen pilots pop their head out the window during a long taxi to the runway, and glance back at the wing to check for icing. So anyone who thinks that "real" pilots only fly in the cockpit hasn't been through Detroit's '99 blizzard :)I'm really surprised Ariane abandoned the wing views since they actually cost little bandwidth and it was a feature they championed (and virtually introduced I'll concede) with their GMAX 733/4 release. It sounds with the tradeoffs though, at a maximum this would equal the value of PMDG's work but PMDG sounds like it has a more well-rounded package, meant to appeal to the cockpit jockey and the pax reliving some obscure flight to a tropical paradise.I'm anxious to hear more--especially from the old-timers here who have long established credentials on the forum. All of my payware purchases evolved out of posts I've read here... Hopefully the thread will stay civil enough that a more in depth review by one of the regulars will surface...Thanks for your input...-John

Ahhh... As usual, Ariane's less than smart pricing policy kills what could be an excellent product. :-lolDPhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpgMember of SJU Photography. "he flight model is okay, and does rival PMDG in many areas. It is both better and worse than the PMDG model...[/b} And you fly for what airline to make such comments upon flight modeling?"VC gauges are more fluid in the PMDG offering but if you click on the gauge to enlarge it, the Ariane vector gauges are crrrrrisp." PMDG are vector gauges and are super sharp when enlarged. Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith

P M D G's 747-400

coming to a runway near you
Caution!
