December 8, 201213 yr In a few short months I've pruchased an iPhone, iPad, Apple-TV and Macbook Pro I'm sure that'll show them. :Worried: Lets change the world with buying Apple devices and then complain about MS strategies. Sorry, just expressing my confusion. But the word resistance has a much deeper meaning. For good reason. :Peace: Question the system. That one were slow or no growth already is the world's end. How about Windows 8 in general? Are there any sales figures out for it yet? Finally someone differentiating between Win RT and its devices and the more normal Win8 OS, running on standard PCs. I think those sales are normal by any means. Away from being stellar. Guess that spin on the fears pays off. Not for MS though. I can find anything from poor sales, to average ones right up to 'way beyond the already good Win7 sales' when using a search engine. I'd say the only ones with precise figures will be.. MS. While the rest is guesstimating or following the current write it down spin. By the way, sold OEM licenses are not automatically used licenses. Works in both directions though. Since the PC market took a general hit lately and since platforms like Steam are about to start their own thing soon, you may find 'bad Win8 sales' and e.g. 'Gabe Newell announces..' posts pretty close together. Coincidence.
December 8, 201213 yr How about Windows 8 in general? Are there any sales figures out for it yet? It is comparing to Windows Vista. in the months following the launch of Vista, there was 1% of total computers using it over the Internet. With Windows 8 currently it is at 1.2%. 1 month after the launch of Windows 7 there was 4.7% of computers using it. just Google 'Windows 8 sales figures' and plenty of information out there. December 8, 201213 yr Got a link, Matthew? With all that bias around, it makes sense to look at the actual source. I lost that one (didn't save it) but there are a number of sources, I Googled 'windows 8 internet users' Here is another that shows similar numbers: http://thenextweb.co...-windows-7-did/ Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
December 8, 201213 yr Thanks for the link. From your article. Microsoft this week announced that Windows 8 sales had surpassed the 40 million mark after one month, which we pointed out looked better than early Windows 7 sales numbers. Nevertheless, it looks like those Windows 8 sales aren’t translating into Internet usage share, or at least not yet, when compared to Windows 7 at one month. I don't question the article's values, but I would keep in mind the context. Hence my note.
December 8, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the link. From your article. I don't question the article's values, but I would keep in mind the context. Hence my note. Numbers I found tended to tell the same story. I would have posted but was busy having an extremely silly Internet fight somewhere else. :-/ We are all connected..... December 8, 201213 yr Remember Apples history. Who knows maybe MS will get a visionary or at least a charismatic catalyst to lead it. Right now it reminds me if a stuffy old man with a monocle and top hat. Randy Swofford
December 8, 201213 yr Author Well the low price of windows 8 is a surprise and indicates either an attempt at a new approach, or an acknowledgement that the new OS might not be especially attractive right now. They are even trying to get the pirates to return to the fold, since the upgrade apparently does not confirm the validity of the OS it is updating. I am not sure what that says. Brilliant, or desperate? I know that even $39 leaves me indifferent. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. December 8, 201213 yr I know that even $39 leaves me indifferent Even at that price I haven't budged.... I did beta test Windows 8 on my old Dell Laptop and it worked fine. I didn't like the layout of Win8 but did really like some of the features. For some reason that Dell Laptop died halfway through my Beta Testing (not because of Microsoft, because Dell Inspirons just die). So that is where I left my experience with Windows 8....on my dead Dell Inspiron, may she RIP Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

Just like voting in a democratic election I don't expect my actions to count for anything else than giving myself piece of mind. It's simply shows that I don't need a PC for anything else than to play flightsim. The Macbook does a better job at the other things I do on computers, photo & video editing. The iPad has taken over as the Internet computer. Microsoft don't seem to understand that the success of their OS is tied to the making of marvelous pieces of software that can't be used on other platforms. December 10, 201213 yr Author I think to be successful in getting people to switch, they are going to have to come up with a compelling reason to do so besides the fact that its new. A lot of people are quite happy with Win7, and the current economic situation is not conducive to Microsoft's usual method of getting quick market penetration through bundling with new pc's. It does not help that the general consumer "vibe" seems to be settling around the idea that the new system is slightly confusing to users. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically......
