October 23, 201213 yr Anyone know of a good B737 - payware or freeware? I know about the PMDG B737; just can't afford it Ken
October 23, 201213 yr This is an automatic message. This topic has been moved from "The Microsoft Flight Forum" to "MS FSX Forum". This move has been done for a number of possible reasons. The most likely reason is that the post was off topic. The topic could also have contained images or a video that were not appropriate to the original forum it was posted in. The images might not have been "illustrative" or "explanatory" in nature. The topic could have been moved because we deemed it to be more appropriately placed elsewhere. Please ensure that your posts are "on topic" and contain illustrative images or videos as appropriate. Do not post videos or images just for entertainment purposes anywhere but in the screen shot or video forums. Members who continue to post off topic posts can be denied entry to specific forums in order to reduce and remove the practice. Your cooperation is appreciated. I moved this from the Flight forum with the assumption that you were referring to an a/c for FSX. If this is not the case, please clarify your request so the mods can put this in the proper forum. That way you will most likely get and answer to your question. Thank you. October 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member Well second best payware 737 is Ifly 737NG for FSX, not as good as PMDG one but still one of the best addons ever made for FSX, and it's a lot cheaper.
October 23, 201213 yr Author Hi FScamp, Thanks for your reply, I'll have a hunt round for a ifly 737NG for FSX. Best regards, Ken
October 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member Don't forget that both addons are very FPS intensive! I bought PMDG, it surely is the best jetliner for fsx ever, but I don't fly it because it eats the fps like crazy. It has lots of very detailed systems. For example with deafult FSX 737 I have 34fps on the runway, with PMDG and iFly around 10-14fps, so it's over 50% lower fps, totally unacceptable for me. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

This is very system-specific. With the PMDG NGX, I can manage 30 fps locked in FSX most anywhere, except for maybe New York with Aerosoft Manhattan X and FSDT KJFK. In that situation, I am in the low 20's. Shane Gavin
October 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member Ofcourse, but on my system on Q9505 @ 3.6ghz and GTX 560 OC, on some europe payware airports (aerosoft mostly) when you are on the runway looking from ther cockpit on the main terminal and at least 15 AI planes, fps drops under 15. In air, and while cruising fps is over 30. Can't talk in the name of users with some i7 @ 4.2ghz. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
October 23, 201213 yr How's PMDG's FPS compared to iFly? Is it like, -5 to -7 FPS in the heavy airports? Thanks, Dirk.

October 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member You mean the options in FMC, or the perfomance manager app that comes with the package? I always choose low textures, but still very hard on fps. Will check again the options in FMC, maybe I missed something. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
October 23, 201213 yr I use the options in the FMC to turn off the First Officers screens. I hide the yokes by clicking on them too. I also run analogue back up gauges rather than the digital ones. Not sure if that last one makes much difference though...
October 23, 201213 yr yep same as chris in fmc options. I'm running a fairly fast system a(4.6ghz)so i can leave displays alone.i turn off vaious fuel warning ,aoa warnings and a few others..i figure it all helps.experiment and see what various things are for and if you don't need them.turn them off. steve-0 REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
October 23, 201213 yr PMDG NGX is first up, I think you should save untill you can afford it. If not though. Ifly is (and was for me untill August 4, 2011 *hint hint* ^_^ ) the way to go, very nice and low FPS impact on a good system. FS2004 Forever
