November 9, 201213 yr That's exactly what I meant, but this doesn't work with my mouse. I'm trying to get the function you describe- to use the middle mouse button to (when depressed) toggle mouse look mode. I can use the space bar, and then when I press the middle mouse button it gets me out of mouse look mode (which is bad). What options (specifically) do I need to select in FSX in order to get the middle mouse button to work (I basically want EZCA functionality of cockpit navigation, but with the full weather/turbulence simulation of Opus). November 9, 201213 yr I'd like to try Live Camera, but when I enable it I lose the top-down view on F12. Is there some way to restore the top-down view, or am I doing something wrong? Dugald
November 9, 201213 yr For completeness sake... ^_^ I am back to OpusFSX Live cam. I decided to give it another try and test the various related settings to find out what they exactly do. I found out that the PBY scaling is related to how far you can turn your head (it was at 0.75 so that was the reason I couldn't look behind me, which was one of the reasons I decided to go back to EZCA). I also found out that the scan speed was somehow stuck in a very low setting which was the cause of the heavy jumps/movements: after changing the setting I have it now at 12 and the odd movements are gone. Too high settings made looking around stutter and very low settings resulted in constant 'jumps'. Last: the transitions are smooth too now. Don't know if this is due to the settings which I changed or the new beta... So... EZCA is gone again. I have to say that after using EZCA for a few days OpusFSX's DHM is so cool... far superior to EZCA's random wobbling! Anyway, it pays to do some extra (beta) testing!
November 10, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi Braden Not totally sure, can you configure the middle mouse button to shift-O in your mouse driver? I have found the Microsoft Intellimouse works without any further configuration and some mice don't work at all. Hopefully someone else will have some suggestions. Hi Dugald I think shift S gets that view. Cheryl
November 11, 201213 yr Hi Dugald I think shift S gets that view. Cheryl Hi Cheryl, Thanks for your suggestion. However, that only works if you have previously (during the same simming session) displayed the top-down view via the View menu. Even then it's only one of the views (about 4, I believe) shown when you use the "Cycle View" key combination, so it's not a convenient single-key toggle like the normal F12, and I can't find any way of mapping it to a keystroke or button. I think I'll have to forget about Live Camera and just stick to Live Weather, which I think is excellent. Dugald
November 11, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi Dugald OK, thanks for the info. Could you not just create your own top down view in Live Camera which you could assign to a key or joystick button? Cheryl
November 11, 201213 yr I always click 'S' followed by 'Shift-A' (which almost feels like ONE keyboard shortcut to me ^_^ ) and after that I only have to press Shift-S to get back to the VC and S again for the top down view. With my joystick before me and the keyboard behind it, this even beats using the F-keys. ^_^ Works just as good imho.

Do you have FSUIPC ? If you have it, go to miscellaneous tab and select mouse look. It works perfectly except for a very annoying point that I have raised also in other forums: when you change the camera view (i.e you switch from main view to overhead panel), the mouse cursor "remembers" the last position it was in the screen in previous camera and when you press the mouse wheel to pan, the viewpoint resets to such screen position and starts panning from there. So in other words when you start panning the viewpoint is first reset to a position that is not where you want to look at... EZCA panning method was great, but I don't want to go back to EZCA as the Opus camera shake is by far superior to Ezca and extremely realistic.....so if someone knows how to fix it, I would be the happiest man in the world.... November 11, 201213 yr Hi Dugald OK, thanks for the info. Could you not just create your own top down view in Live Camera which you could assign to a key or joystick button? Cheryl Hi Cheryl, I did try that, but I couldn't zoom out far enough to get a usable view. I always click 'S' followed by 'Shift-A' (which almost feels like ONE keyboard shortcut to me ^_^ ) and after that I only have to press Shift-S to get back to the VC and S again for the top down view. With my joystick before me and the keyboard behind it, this even beats using the F-keys. ^_^ Works just as good imho. Jeroen, It's still a long way around in comparison with using F12 itself (only one key with one finger, and then one finger on F9 to go back to the VC). I like to keep things nice and simple, and the F12/F9 dance has now become almost a reflex action, so I'll stay with that. Dugald
November 11, 201213 yr Commercial Member <br />I did try that, but I couldn't zoom out far enough to get a usable view.<br /> You can use the xyz-axis to zoom out instead when creating a camera view. Cheryl
November 11, 201213 yr You can use the xyz-axis to zoom out instead when creating a camera view. Cheryl Hi Cheryl, Yes, I had tried that too, but it still stops at the same zoom factor (0.30). Moreover, whichever method I use to define the camera, once I'm back in the sim with that camera view showing, I can't zoom out any farther, whereas with the F12 top-down view I can zoom out as far as I want (and still see where my aircraft is located). November 14, 201213 yr I was a long time ASX to ASE to AS2012 user until I tried the demo for OpusFSX and instantly loved how the wx engine depicted the weather. Once winds aloft is added OpusFSX will be, imo, the best wx engine FSX has seen to date. BUT...I have spent several days trying to get the camera shake effects to play nice with TrackIR 5, and I've given up and gone back to EZCA. My major gripes about the camera system: - overall the shaking effects were absolutely jerky and non-realistic for me. I tried several days of tweaking and tips suggested in the manuals/forums and still couldn't get smooth shaking effects. At one point during a flight the camera would shift left/right rapidly as if I moved my head quickly then snapped back to the correct head orientation, creating a very dizzying "flicker" effect that made flying pretty much impossible - the smoothness of TrackIR went into the toilet, no matter how much I played with the smoothness and sensitivity sliders both in TrackIR and the OpusFSX software. I tried it with precision mode on/off...no difference - only way to switch cameras in the interface is pressing a button, getting a popup window, and then pressing another button to make the switch. In EZCA, you can just click right in the interface window to quickly cycle through cameras and view modes without extra pop up windows - no way to cycle through cameras with just two keybinds, i.e. going forward and backward through the list. Every camera has to be assigned to a key (I know that multiple cameras can be assigned to the same key, but you always cycle forward through the cameras...there's no way to cycle backwards, another function that EZCA provides and is extremely useful in navigating my VC) - no way to assign keybinds to move the cameras during edit mode; you HAVE to use the arrow buttons which for me is a huge turn off. I pretty much rely heavily on keyboard shortcuts, as opposed to being a mouse click guy. Limiting keyboard shortcuts in any software for me is a real drag Overall, the one thing that stood out for me is the amount of tweaking/adjusting you seem to have to do in order for TrackIR to work smoothly with the Live Camera system. When I reinstalled EZCA and setup my cameras again, the camera was smooth straight out of the box. No tweaking or adjusting, and I'm not forced to use precision mode (which I can't stand to use). The dynamic head movements also don't jitter all over the place and jerk around. I know OpusFSX is still in development so I'll wait and see how the camera system gets improved, but right now I just refuse to use it and will stick with EZCA in the meantime. Several days of tweaking/adjusting slider bars and sensitivity values isn't what I look forward to when I buy something new, but fortunately for me I have something to fall back on. I'm still happy I bought it and I still plan on using the wx engine for every flight! Can't wait to see how OpusFSX evolves from here, but imo the camera system needs serious work so it performs seamlessly with any type of system it's installed on. Actually love the live camera, but found only when switching a dip in fps otherwise no noticeable fps loss. At this point EZDOK parked... to add I don't use TrackIR André
November 14, 201213 yr Commercial Member Thanks Andre Just to clarify on the quoted text, The shaking effects are realistic since they are real world captured data. To switch views you only press a button, no other steps are needed. We will revisit the TrackIR software to accommodate systems where smooth performance is an issue. Regards Cheryl
