Stutters Galore..

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Recently, my FSX has been acting up and my stutters are awful. I have tried deleting FSX.CFG, cleaning drivers, and following Word Not Allowed's Guide. I am out of ideas.

Basically, every second, the sim has a "burst" of 3 mini stutters... No matter what the settings are, aircraft, airport, etc, they still occur.

What is running in the background??

Run Procmon concurrently with FSX and see if some other process takes control.

Have you checked all of your textures to make sure they all contain an Alpha Channel ? Worked wonders for me.

Yes. Didn't make much of a difference unfortunately.

Already looked... Closed out of everything.

my first thought too... and it would be something new...

You did a malware et al. scan right?

Scenery settings? I had a lot of microstutters until I used 80 in my scenery settings, and bingo, all gone!

Plust maybe lower your AA filtering to 8 in Inspector and see if it fixes it., if it does, increase to the next level until you find a balance.

Sounds kinda like a simconnect stutter. Like when weather updates from a remote computer but it normally wouldn't be that often?

I am going to try this...

Hey Ben,

I take it you haven't messed with AA settings within Inspector, recently?

No...

Ben, you are running Windows 8 and newest GPU drivers right? Don't want to be a party-pooper here, but maybe that's it...

I tend not to upgrade, change drivers or whatever when I have the config running well.

Yes.. I have completely clean installed 2 separate drivers with the same issue...

Possibly. But what I'm aiming at is that w8 was not made for fsx and is still in it's young days. So are the drivers. Maybe that is the core of the problem as it doesn't stutter under w7...

I have W8 running currently with no problems or stutters. Running great actually. My current setup is:

Core I5 3570k at 4.6ghz

16gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz ram

180gb Intel 330 SSD

Gtx 580

1tb Seagate Sata hdd for Fsx

Maybe it's a conflict with the hardware you are running.
