Hi guys,

Who wants to become a pilot for Emirates ?

You are quickly leading towards my first entry to my ignore list.

All right

I know I'm no staff on these forums- but should remember this is the PMDG 777 forum. Posting 777 videos, photos etc is cool; but not the place to talk about working for an airline. I think there's a forum called "Hangar Chat" or something for these kind of discussions..

I have heard good things about flying for EK and bad things. It seems like a pretty decent job though. But you have to live in Dubai. It is not like CX which has some bases around the world. At least a few in North America.

Yes Steven. But CX might not be hiring. I want to work for CX for other reasons, but if I was offered a job for 777-300ERs at EK I would jump at it.

We have an ignore list? Or is that a personal list of yours?

Correct Luke. This has nothing to do with PMDG.

Tell the posters this and they get all upset......

TWO THINGS HOWEVER!

One: First time flying with Emirates was PER-DXB-LGW. Midday during summer and having taken my seat with a broken IFE we were delayed and for what ever reason in the worst place possible the pax were not turned on (first time I saw FA's hand out cool towels) then on the way back I couldn't help here the captain explain it was 35 degrees outside.....at 12AM. I don't mind the hot weather, but if I end up being roasted like a turkey inside an A330 then DXB is not for me.

Two: Virgin Australia have a base with 773's 2 hours up the road so I might spare the big move.

explain it was 35 degrees outside.....at 12AM

Phoenix is usually like that during June-August/September if the conditions are right. Highs over 100, 110, and even 115. Hot in the afternoon and hot at night (you can see highs still near/over 100 around 10PM). I remember driving around in a truck that had a faulty AC system. That s**t is not fun.

This is the same for Qatar Airways ?

Why would you live in Dubai if you're flying for Qatar?

I should have said I do not have a pilot's license right now so I can't get a job with Emirates.

Oh my bad, I thought you meant that you didn't want to redo an entire license again in another country.

You guys really need to do it like Europe- if you needed 1,500 hours in the UK then there really would be a shortage of pilots there.

Seems to be working fine in the U.S. as there are still plenty of pilots without any jobs. But as pay continues to be low and the new 1500hr rule for airline FO's comes in a pilot shortage for the regional airlines may happen.

But I agree if the path to being an airline pilot in the U.S. was like it is in Europe I beleive that may be the job I would be pursuing right now.

Live in Dubai ? is it necessary ?

I am fairly confident EK does not allow commuting.

I'm on my phone right now but if I remember correctly Qatar were asking for military requirements.

Definitely no military requirement for Qatar, I'm pretty sure Emirates is the same. One thing I will say, if you do want to fly big new shiny jets out here then kiss your friends and family goodbye and forget having a social life. You will be flying up to the max legal limit.

You seriously made this a post on the PMDG fourm... Yeah I am going to stick to just looking at OFFICIAL PMDG posts because all these other ones are just aggravating.

What does flying for Emirates (other than virtual repaints) have to do with the PMDG 777?
