Sweet FX

Featured Replies

Ok Scott, first thing to do is download this file.  It has the configurator as well as version 1.5.1 of SweetFX.

http://ge.tt/api/1/files/64SMJpf/7/blob?download

Unzip (unRAR) that file to your FS9 root directory.  You should see SweetFX 1-5-1 Configurator in the FS9 root directory. Before you do anything else, make sure you remove any of the previous files from SweetFX that you may have put in your FS9 root directory.  Next, open the SweetFX 1-5-1 Configurator folder and click on the SweetFX config.exe file.  In the lefthand pane, click on Add new game, navigate to your FS9.exe file and click on that to add it to the game list. Click once on the file name in the game list.  On the right side you should see a button that says Add SweetFX, click on that.  You should now see the middle window populated with the various SweetFX options.  For now, clear any checks out of the boxes in the top, middle window.  Then look for the button on the bottom that says Save new config and click on that.  Now try to run FS.  It should startup normally now.  After all this, you can go back to the configurator and tweak to your heart's content.  :)  Make sure to check out the buttons on the right so you can get comfortable with them and what they do for you.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how it works out.

Cheers,

Jeff

I have followed this to the letter and am unable to "add SweetFx".  The button does not show up; instead I see "remove SweetFx" but the middle window is empty.

Version 1.3 was working OK and I have carefully removed all files related to SWFX.  It looks as though the configurator thinks SWFX is still installed.

Configurator log:

17:35:33.272 | DEBUG | Checking path for d3d9.dll

17:35:33.276 | DEBUG | Checking path for SweetFX_settings.txt
17:35:33.276 | DEBUG | Checking path for injector.ini
17:35:49.622 | DEBUG | Checking path for SweetFX\dlls\FXAA DX9 dll\d3d9.dll

Configurator.ini:
[game:f203ec5297d39c8fba832caf92626c2c]
exec = E:\Flight Simulator 9\fs9.exe
execfolder = E:\Flight Simulator 9
name = Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight
installFXfolder = E:\Flight Simulator 9
args =
specialfolder = E:\Flight Simulator 9
special = 0

Any thoughts on what could be happening?

Thanks,

Phil

Phil, the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that you still have some of the old version's files in your FS9 root directory.  You're right that the configurator thinks it's still installed.  The "Add SweetFX" button appears exactly where the Remove button is.  Try clicking the Remove SweetFX button, let the program do its' thing, and then go back into your FS9 root folder and make sure that all of the SweetFX files are gone from there.  If not, then delete them.  After all that, try to go through the process again as I outlined and see if that fixes it.

Cheers,

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff.

I had omitted to remove the d3d9.dll.  Had not realized it was needed only by sweetfx.

All fine now.

I recentlu installed SweetFX into FS9.  It works well except for one issue.  When I make a change, the only way to insert/inject the changes is to go ALT-ENTER into Full Scrren mode then back to window mode.  The scroll lock key then operates correctly.  But the Pause key - or any other that I set - has no effect on inserting the changes.

Wonder if anyone has seen this or has any ideas?

SweetFX is placed into the root folder of the game you want to inject into.

Running in windowed mode uses the Windows driver setup, not that of the game.

Most folk can't even use Windowed mode because of this.

I use fullscreen mode, always.

I get a "solarised" effect when I go into the dialogue boxes of aircraft selection etc but this is not enough to discourage me... I do enjoy the many effects you can get by tweaking this software.

Thanks- had the impression it was ok in windowed mode.

Trying again.

Hi Folks,

Win 7x64 - DirectX 11 - FS9.1

First time through with SweetFX - using 1.5.1 - I followed the install guide which stated to copy all files in the zip - maintaining the directory structure - into your main game folder that includes the game executable... Did that into my main FS9 folder - went to start FS9 leaving all the SweetFX files unaltered... FS9 won't start... Error pops up stating (you don't have Direct X loaded and to go and install it)... Obviously I do have Direct X loaded as FS9 was functioning fine prior to the SweetFX install and if I remove the SweetFX files - FS9 runs normally again...

Am I missing something ??? This seemed pretty straight forward...

Any ideas ???

Regards,

Scott

Hi Scott!

Did you solve this problem?

My configs are the same (Win7 64 bits, FS9, Dx11) and I´m having the same problem! :(

Best regards from Brazil!

I had never tried Sweet FX until tonight and now I'm mad at myself for not having tried it before. Just an incredible difference. I still haven't found a way to get rid of shimmering, though, but everything else looks great.

Ken

Had some issues with SweetFX in both FS9 and FSX. Got everything fixed now and must admit the issues were all my fault.

There have been some issues talked about here, which never seemed to get resolved.

I've never had problems, so glad you got sorted.

Now you are the Expert!

Does Sweet FX work in FULL SCREEN Mode?

It doesn't appear to...unless I don't have a setting right...

Can someone please advise, as this is the first time I am trying this...

Thanks,

I guess that nobody uses this anymore...

Anyway, It only works in WINDOW mode for me.  If anybody has this working in FULL SCREEN, let me know how you did it...

Thanks

Well if you read through the many posts in this thread, you will see your experience is the exact OPPOSITE of those who have problems with it!

It specifically does run in fullscreen mode, because it uses shader injectors for the fullscreen drivers (Not the Windows drivers which are used in windowed mode).

Of the various shaders, this is the best and easiest to work with.
