December 11, 201213 yr Update: I was flying in Alaska and noticed that while the runways had snow, the taxiways and aprons did not. What I saw was the wet reflection on the taxiways and aprons. Sorry, I thought AS2012 had snow graphics for those. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
December 11, 201213 yr I have no idea what im talking about but would it be possible to make something do the airport identifier uses a specific texture file. So all the airports starting with C in Canada could have a snowy texture and for T in the Caribbean it would have the other one? Lee Amazing if I'm understanding this correct what's not possible in FSX. In FS9 during the winter my winter runway texture is exclusive to snow fall or a snowy area. What I mean here is I can fly from a tropical airport with a clean runway and land on a snowy runway at my winter destination. This should be possible in FSX. FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
December 11, 201213 yr it is not the airport that have identifier. FSX has coded into the main program areas that is known as "hard snow" areas. Only that areas together with weather determine is the runway will have snow or not. anyway that is what I understand from fsx SDK, but then at my age anything is possible to be misunderstood. So your caribean will never ever display "snow textures"
December 11, 201213 yr What I mean here is I can fly from a tropical airport with a clean runway and land on a snowy runway at my winter destination. This should be possible in FSX. Yes. It works quite well in FSX, especially when coupled with the snowy runways feature of REX, but the current issue relates to the aprons and taxiways, which do not appear snowy even when the runways do.
December 12, 201213 yr If you look at fsx\texture you see some some of the runway textures have seasonal variants that include hard winter (snow), but it doesn't look like the taxi/apron textures do. With seasonal variants AFAIK they follow the seasons.bgl landclass file, plus I guess if snow is in the station weather. I don't know if the allowable textures with seasons can be added to or is hard-coded. An alternative is to place ground textures but in this case I think you have to specify the day-of-year they show. You could maybe do something tricky with simconnect. scott s. .
