Mistakes I made with the 737

Yeah as Peter said the passengers are fine even if you forget to set the cruising alt in the pressurization panel, the main thing to notice would be the outflow valve opening and closing (along with cabin rate fluctuation) in a unstable way. If the pressurization was dangeriously low you would hear a loud warning (same warning horn as take off config warning).

I think the above happened in this scenario, scarey thought. I'm hoping we can post youtube links.

No, the Helios incident happened because the pressurization system was off completely. In the case in this thread of not setting the altitute setting in the panel just means the pressurization was not efficient and fluctuates a lot but everyone still gets their oxygen.

Me too, what's the importance of the chrono for the 737? Is it for monitoring time in TOGA mode same as Airbus?

Well it's a clock with timing features, you use it to log block time, flight time, navigation etc.

I always hate when you hit 12,000ft or so and the Cabin pressurization horn goes off.

certainly wakes you up.

Another fun one is Gear Down, Landing Checklist done, decending through 500ft, then you remember the seatbelt sign is still off :P

You can see why they put 2 people in the cockpit ;)

Haha yeah, that's why I use FS2crew, I never have the belt issue anymore and I always check the pressurization as part of the after takeoff checklist with FS2crew.

Over here (the UK) elementary mode S is mandatory in controlled airspace, there are a lot of pilots who have been caught lying about their speeds since it was introduced :P

I think many of us do silly mistakes. It takes time to learn on this plane some are quick some are slow. It's all up to the individual to learn on the plane.

@3:45 Blimey no frills airline? Look at the leg room they get.

Awesome thread.Whew thought I've only made these mistakes. Number 1 is my personal fav.

Gil Hidalgo

1.) Cabin Pressure

2.) Second CRS knob modification

3.)250 under 10,000

4.)I will on occasion leave the speedbrake on accident deployed a little bit during my whole approach and landing if I have to use them on descent. I will deploy them, and sometimes my mouse command sliding it forward will not completely retract them. I ALWAYS do this it seems if I have to use them.

5.) Probably the MOST stupid mistake....I never fail to place my Landing Light to ON when entering the runway....thus, flying pretty much with just my nosewheel light until it is itself retracted.

I sometimes mix up the speed with heading select. Well I guess it does look the same. Too easy to mix up.

Yes, this mistake seems to be done by many of us. On the one, I blame Boeing for bad ergonomics, the Heading button should net be next to the AT speed selection. both 3 digeit numbers - I've set speed to 100kt when landing on ILS 10, and heading 250 when trying top reduce speed to 250 kts.

Here is a link to a great Boeing checklist for the 738 NGX. I had a few laminated and use it on every flight. Just like real world: set, check, and re check.

Too bad you have to sign up to download it. Just going to the link froze my browser. Is there any other way to get that list?

Thanks

Home cockpit builder ...well trying anyway

I'm guilty of number 6.

And also guilty of forgetting to put the gear up and wondering why my plane isn't gaining any speed lol
