Dino's Freeware F35 Released

Featured Replies

I would highly recommend it. I bought it when it was for sale and it was an excellent value for the price. Now it's free:

Just flew it for about 20min. Wow this has got to be one of the best freeware planes out there. Thanks for the recommendation!

Has anyone ever been able to land this thing in the STOL form? Everytime I touch the nosewheel down, it sinks into the tarmac, or ship, and I get a crash.

Has anyone ever been able to land this thing in the STOL form?

Yes... tho I cannot yet find in the manual (except in "Special Ops for STOVL -F-35B) I think you are going to need a speed roughly around 70kts (tho I did land once approx. @ 60 some kts).

I would highly recommend it.

Sweet, Ryan... thanks!

Does this work on FSX without Acceleration either? Damn, why did Microsoft stop selling the standalone acceleration pack?

Thanks,

Kevin L

Not sure but I think you can find FSX Gold cheaper than Acceleration by itself... even in AU...

IMPORTANT! This add-on is designed to work with FLIGHT SIMULATOR X AND

ACCELERATION package installed. Flight Simulator X AND the ACCELERATION

package (or Flight Simulator X:Gold Edition) are REQUIRED.

With FSX Gold it worked initially but now crashes everytime I try to load it. But it works just fine with Prepar3D. I have no problem going straight up or landing straight down with very low speeds. The plane automoatically corrects for winds so if you tell it to hover, it stays right where it is (that is for the F35B version - there are 3 models, the standard, the vertical takeoff model and the carrier model. Only the second moel (B) can fly vertically).

How do you change the thrust angle for VTOL?

  • Author

There's a manual in the F-35A docs folder...

How do you change the thrust angle for VTOL?

Like the real one it's an automatic process, all you do is press a button on the upper left hand panel, marked S/TOL/Tailhook then all you do is control the level of thrust and your flight controls for direction. You must be below a set speed (I think it's 250kts) to engage it. It's pretty cool!

Thanks

I have to engage STOL as you said Tom (tailhook) then I have to click on the Hover button to go into VTOL mode... but reducing thrust does this?

Thanks btw,

Rob

short vid of landing on a carrier... (oops is a STOL landing... but the davido was asking about this).

Incredibly fun aircraft to fly in FSX. Great piece of work! I highly recommend it!
