Anyone using MS FLIGHT in windows 8? Tried to find it through the new Metro "Store" tab, but it isn't listed there...

Hi jcomm,

I just know that lots of people are having problems running FLIGHT on windows 8. From what I have seen I don't like it much and will not be changing if I don't have to!

Steve

I am running FSX on Win8 pro x64 with no problems, on my hp dv6 6096 laptop. No issues, no crashes, FSX icon should be on the start menu, if not got to fsx folder and place it on your desktop.

Ok! Thx for your posts. I am now on Win8, and so far am enjoying it, although I really didn't have to change (one of those impulses and the fact that it was available for only €29 until the end of January...). DCS World works great, and even some applications (like Office 2003) supposedly not compatible with win8...

You do realize Jcomm was asking about Microsoft Flight don't you?

Anyhow nice to know FSX will run on Win.8. You might want to post that in the FSX forum so anyone else that is curious will know.

Thank you.

Rick

You can still get flight from Steam or here http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/

Just remember to run as Admin in Win8 and it should work fine.

Thx Hiflyer. I still have both accounts to get it from. I actually bought the C46 from Steam when it was released. I might give it a try, since with my "new rig" I would be able to run it at ULTRA settings....

Yikes, hate to think what your old rig was like, as even my old E8400 + HD4850 would put down a respectable minimum framerate of 45 in MS Flight on all the highest settings :P.

respectable minimum framerate of 45

I don't now how much it was giving ... BTW, how do you get the FPS info in MS FLIGHT without using some other app?

The only way I know is to use another app, like fraps

I am assuming that DCS and XP10 finally tempted you into getting a better rig?

I've had zero issues running Flight on Windows 8. I'd never think of switching back to Windows 7. Windows 8 is so much faster and looks so much more clean. The flat style is something I never thought I'd be a fan of, but have grown to like it more than the Aero look.

Nope, just DCS

Yes this is also my feel. I wouldn't expect liking even the Metro interface more than the one I registered for $5 soon after installing Win8 to get back to a win7-style Start Menu, and reverted back to win8 default :-). I confirm no problems until now other than not being able to properly post at AVSIM because the carriage return is non-functional in it's forums on IE10 :-(. I have to write all in the same line ....

Does Flight experience the problems with joysticks reported when using FSX and Prepa3d with Win8?
