hello everybody, at this moment at ivao network four 777-200 are in flight from KIAH (Houston) to OMDB (Dubai), it could be only 4 friends enjoying their passion, but the Big Surprise is that one of the PIC (pilot in command) is Marco Frosio (one of the betatester of the PMDG NGX).

The flight plan is very well done:

if you check the equipment of the aircraft ( http://webeye.ivao.aero/ ): SDE2E3FGHIJ3J5M1RWXYZ/LB2D1 (seems to be very similar to the real one) ; maybe he should recycle the xpdr from 1200 to 2000 but i probably forgot that if i had PMDG 777 in my hands) .

Maybe they are only preparing their future flights when the 777 will be realesed or maybe not, who Knows??. Time to especulate....

Good night to everybody from Spain.

my mistake sorry for the info: Marco is not a PMDG Beta Tester i think i´m a bit tired 0330 LMT at Spain. My hopes with the 777 betrayed me. Sorry again last days i see 777 and Q400 everywhere.

I personally like using real world routes that the actual airline operates - so I'll generally plan my long hauls a day or two in advance so I can request the flight plan that's on the day before or of the flight, depending when the flight departs in the real world. Of course if it departs past 1200L then I'll normally get the flight plan from the day before. I get all my FP's from; http://www.edi-gla.co.uk/fpl/index.php

I'm sure many will be using PFPX with their 777's too! I know I will.

The PFPX will be quite advance, but don't get me wrong..... What if PMDG integrates a fully functional performance calculator on the T7's EFB? Which one will you use?

I don't think PFPX will calculate V Speeds etc since it's for flight planning. I think it's the TopCat program that calculates that kind of performance?

The EFB only gives you V Speeds, Derates/N1 Ratings, Flaps etc.

Hopefully the FMC will be able to automatically calculate the V speeds (NGX style) for those of us who just want to punch in our weights and flight plan within 5 minutes, not much time for pre-flight during those quick turns lol, after getting the FMC done its time to button up the hatches and get ready for pushback.

I have a feeling you might be mistaken. As far as I am aware, PFPX will calculate everything; so V speeds as well.

I would guess that pmdg may team up with pfpx for an intergrated efb. Who knows#

I myself assumed that PFPX would replace Topcat but also be even more realistic and sophisticated.

I know I will buy PFPX for use with any PMDG aircraft I'll be flying! From a youtube video, that one of their beta testers made, http://bit.ly/13aGVyh he shows off quite a lot of paperwork that he had printed from PFPX, and it looks fantastic! Interesting video for sure. Might not use TOPCAT after this is released? But that's fine coming from the same developer. Also better to just keep everything in the same program. Easier and faster I would think.

You will still require TOPCAT for the Vspeeds , assumed temps etc

Rob Prest

Correct, TopCat will populate PFPX fields with the correct values, as mentioned in the video, that is if you have TopCat. And I promise you, if you are serious in using PFPX you will have TopCat too :)

For the record - no one is test flying our 777 online.

Also - PFPX and Topcat are programmed by real world dispatchers and they're using the same Boeing data we are for the takeoff stuff and whatnot. Given that fact, there should not be a disagreement between the FMC/EFB and these programs in terms of V speeds and stuff like that unless it's misconfigured. Topcat gives me the same V speeds our FMC does in the 800.

I agree with Ryan, I have TOPCAT and it does have the same figures for my -700 and -800. What I get from TOPCAT which is obviously not in the FMC, is the abiility to let it calculate for me what the optimal flap and power settings will be and also in conditions varying from the base speeds, like wet or contaminated runways.

What I find TOPCAT will calculate quite often is flaps 1 take offs, which I thought was a bit of a mistake, but I read several posts of airline pilots operating the 737 NG's indicating that they also mainly do flaps 1 take offs since they also use sophisticated computer software to calculate that for them these days.

Kind regards
