I guess, most of it (all of it) you can do by yourself for free. It's still just using existing OSM data, which is terribly lacking in most parts of the world.

I would gladly pay someone to give me something "different" scenery wise, current OSM data just doesn't cut it. We need something "new", something different from the current limitations of OSM, and the current autogen / plausible world system. We need something from a 3rd party that totally changes the scenery system / look. These guys are 3rd party, but their charging for something that is already available for free.

Good on them for offering stuff for sale though, trying to make a buck, but I'll pass, OSM2XP is not that tough to use and this is just more of the same old, nothing new.

Totally agree with you on this one Glen,

I have accepted the "All Green planet" currently offered, but I wouldn't mind paying for something that totally changes the scenery look and offers seasonal textures.

Yeah, this product doesn't appear to do anything with water (due to XP10's architecture), and only might update the OSM street data, add in OSM wind turbines, and perhaps lay down some ice texture polygons for glaciers.

I'm curious what it does with the autogen, but the screenshots are underwhelming to say the least. I feel bad saying that because the authors probably spent a lot of time on it, but it looks no different (if not worse due to lower object density) than what I'm getting with the stock scenery at the moment.

I'm passing on this because we know Laminar Research still has hopes and plans to do an OSM scenery re-cut, which will do essentially the same thing as this product (and more, when you factor in water).

I feel the same way. 10.30 and the promised art assets should look better than this add-on. There is still a ton of work to do on the land class, as I have yet to find a jungle in South America lol.

Looks very good! Glad to see more developers taking hacks at XP, especially with OSM data which most people always complained it is too tedious to do yourself. All of NA for 15EUR is not bad at all.

This is how the business world works, bro. There are a lot of things you could be doing yourself for free -- assuming you have the time, patience, desire, and expertise -- but sometimes it's just easier to pay someone else to do it for you, especially if you lack time, patience, desire, and expertise.

Even if this isn't a product I'm personally interested in, I still take heart in the fact that the X-Plane third-party market is starting to get some wind under its wings.

I agree, plus i'm LAZY to create my own scenery  The price is right for lazy people like me.

Totally agree here, I would and I think a lot of people would pay for something different, and unique, I find the area of North America and Canada especially, it really lacks and is unrealistic. Let's hope some developers step up, hopefully as we get more and more stable with 64 bit things get better.

I hear what some of you are saying, but to call this 3rd party development is almost laughable. And I say that with no disrespect to the authors. I also commented, that if they were able to sell this and make a buck, more power to them. Those that are new to Xplane need to know before shelling out any money, that this is already freely available to everyone, or can be done with very little work.

If you don't have the time, that's fine, but this is not 3rd party development. This is selling something that is already readily available to everyone for free. If in some way it enhanced my area of flight I would be interested, but it offers nothing that I can't do with a few minutes of my time. There's nothing "new" about this at all. This isn't adding any value to Xplane, is just saves "the lazies" some time.

This is no different than me taking all the stock aircraft, painting them a different colour, and then offering them back to you for sale. Would you call that 3rd party development, I don't think so. If you want to buy this offering that's up to you, I want a little more for my money, and something that changes / enhances the default look as well.

Goran is a 3rd party developer, he offers something I don't have already, and can't do myself (not without the hundreds / thousands of hours he puts into his aircraft). This I can do by myself in very little time, and doesn't offer anything "new". And it doesn't "better" what I already have.

Looks like this one could go either way. Does it make sense to pay someone to mow my grass, when I have a mower in the garage?

Everything is available at several websites for free, not even needed to start OSM2XP.

For a start, go to http://simheaven.de/

The guy at AWG Simulations is not serious. He promised a lot and never delivered. Furthermore, given the very uncomplete coverage of OSM in the US, this can barely be called "autogen".

I visited this sight, Just wanna check that I am on the right track here, this osm data will replace or update the osm and autogen in xp 10?

thanks,

You have the choice, the files labeles "osm+only" replaces all autogen buildings and forests, "osm+autogen" adds the OSM buildings to the existing autogen and replaces forests. In either case, roads are not modified. In the second case, you will have more building density, but some will overlap.

If you use orthophotos, and your region's is at least partly covered with buildings, I'd recommand osm only. Else use the other one.
