Scenery advise

Featured Replies

Hi

I would like to ask for some scenery recommendation.

So far i do not have/use any payware airport scenery.

I would like to buy one and have it as 'home' for my PMDG777.

Recently i have tried Fly Tampa demo.

Scenery was very nice but also very heavy for my computer, even with Cessna my FPS dropped to value of 12.

To be short, i look for scenery of big airport with active docking system but still FPS friendly.

Any advise ?

What are your computer specs? FlyTampa are ususally already very good with FPS.... A big, complex airport will always demand a strong computer.

(Btw, im not sure whether this is the right foum for this question....)

Try amsterdam schiphol EHAM its very big airport, but I cant promise for a good fps, just try,

But the AS EHAM scenery is really one of the most demanding sceneries ( and btw not a top notch scenery - just check the missing taxi signs...)

Check out FTX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa and to some extent UK2000 and the German Airport-bundles from Aerosoft. These are, IMO, the leading scenery-designers today - and you can always try the awesome FREE scenery KPHL from SunSkyJet (http://www.sunskyjet.com/)

Dear Chrjs,

My computer spec u can check in my profile.

My computer is powerful enough to give me solid 25-28 fps with 737NGX and all FSX settings max., plus really dense Ai traffic.

Free scenery from SunSkyJet looking nice, i did not know this before.

I think i will check it tonight, thanks for link.

Sorry, forgot to sign...

With such a decent system and only marginal frame rates with a FlyTampa airport, probably installation of the demo got screwed up somehow.

Your findings don't really combine with your system specs ...

And yes, this topic should be moved to another forum.

I read that volumetric grass is very heavy for computer, and FlyTampa is with it.

Maybe if i could switch it off performance would be better, the problem is that i do not know how to do it.

If i can reach about 20fps with FlyTampa scenery then i will buy it.

Btw., why u think it is not a good question for general forum?, finally i am searching nice home for PMDG777

There may be an option in the installers; I'm not sure right now about it.

You may have a look at the FlyTampy support forum (no need to register there unless you want to post): There may be some threads concerning performance of different airports plus some optional performance tweaks for systems where needed.

Curious which Fly Tampa scenery you tried? Looking for a good home base for the PMDG 777 when released...Fly Tampa's Hong Kong Kai Tak should fit the bill nicely.

I'm pretty sure you can turn that off during installation. BTW, which airport do you have? The only one that doesn't perform that well on my computer is Boston Logan, but I guess that's due to some other reasons, such as the amount of traffic in the area and the rather detailed city. But as others said before, FlyTampa's airports usually give great FPS.

Between my Aerosoft, FlyTampa, FSDT, and UK2000 airports (see My Simulator), my FlyTampa airports perform the best, especially considering the number of objects modeled and scenery covered. FSDT European airports also perform well, but cover less surrounding scenery.

Also consider lowering traffic settings or purchasing an add-on such as Ultimate Traffic 2 for better performance.

Very nice and good framerates!

I double that, I have pretty much every add-on available, my favorite USCity San Francisco but this one is simply stunning, I was complete in awe with the level of detail @ 8 gig file I thought I would get hit with frame rate blues but the contrary it was smooth.

But I also have a beefy PC and I had all sliders to max,

I thought I would get hit with frame rate blues but the contrary it was smooth.

That was exactly where I was afraid for to, I am glad I took the chance buying this scenery !!
