New XP-X (64) user- where to get good 3rd party aircraft?

Featured Replies

What is the best source of payware and/or freeware GA aircraft for X-Plane X (64 bit)?  I see that Corenado has some GA stuff, but in some cases there is a disclaimer that the planes are “migrated” from an earlier X-Plan version and do not have full features supported by XPX-64).

I think XP really shines for GA flight, especially for learning to fly.  I also see a relatively new B777 product too, which I might also olook at getting.

Thanks,  Bruce

Carenado's A36 is 64 bit compatible. I got the C208B Grand Caravan HD series and and downloaded the SASL 64 bit plug-in for it and works perfectly fine in 64.

You can download the SASL plug-in for the Caravan here:

Of course this SASL 64 update is not supported by Carenado. I haven't had any issues with it, works fine.

You can also check out X-Aviation's Jetstream 32 and the CRJ 200, both are 64 bit compatible. I don't have the CRJ but the Jetstream 32 is a joy to fly.

Hi Bruce

Just to let you know, the CRJ200 from X-Aviation isn't yet 64 bit compatible. As far as i understand when 10.21 comes out and the GIZMO plug-in is all working fine then the 64 bit version will be released.

Another aircraft I can highly recommend from X-Aviation is the MU-2 by Tom Kyler. Again as soon as GIZMO is tested and fine with 10.21 there is a highly anticipated version 1.5 to be released as a free upgrade. You can find details at http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php/topic/331-mu-2-progress-towards-update/page-31#entry50072

Hope this helps

Regards

Simon

what is the sasl update for? I use my carenado planes fine in X-Plane 10 64 bit without any problems. Does it add anything or make things better if I use the updated 64 bit sasl update?

Cap

It won't add anything or make it better. I had rendering issues with the prop and the update got rid of it, it think there where a couple of switches that didn't work either.

It's a pitty, the 2 download mirrors doesn't work............

Did you try from here?

You must be logged into your x-plane.org account!!!

Hit the download button and a new page with mirror links will be presented.

1st link at least worked for me a couple of minutes ago (just for the sake of checking... I'm not using XP10 anymore!!! Finally managed to sell my copy yesterday, and all of my XP stuff got soon after erased from my disk(s). I'm "free", and you are too, I believe... I was starting to sound a lot more of like a troll lately, I know :-/... )
