April 10, 201313 yr Hi Maurice, The rudder problem I get when I don't start with default flight is that it would shake violently from side to side. Sometimes only a few degrees and sometimes a lot more than a few. And if I input full rudder right for example, the rudder would only rotate no more than 5 degrees but the nose gear work fine.I don't think the yaw dampers are on in taxi mode. Because I used the same state after loading the default cessna and no rudder problem. Yes that sounds like the yaw damper problem, though. You can find out if it's activated if you choose the overhead panel, find yaw damper switches in the left column of switches (upper to middle are), open the covers by clicking them and look if the switches are on. In theory it's possible that if you load at first the Cessna without rudder problems you have them in the B727, though, because the DF B727 will load her last state from within a .cfg file saved in your FS2004 main directory. As I'm not in front of my FS computer I don't know the name of this file exactly. Perhaps you'll find evidence of yaw damper active or inactive inside the file. The switches are fun like you mentioned, but at this moment I want to get flying, that's why I use ready for taxi. Absolutely no critics from me. Your way to get familiar with the plane seems actually better than mine. Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
April 10, 201313 yr With the CS 727,make sure you install the Micheal 2 mod you'll find on the CS forum. That will bring it all together for you and the plane will follow RL tables very accurately and will behave very realistically. Also, unless you have accelerator rather Sp2, the AP will never work completely right... Acceleration vs SP2? I think you're talking about FSX version again rather than the FS9 one that's the topic here. April 10, 201313 yr This is the FS9 forum.... <_< I agree, you are absolutely correct. But just checked and i can't see which part of my post is not related to fs9 Zeljko Budovic
April 10, 201313 yr make a flightplan from fsx menu I think the informations Zeljko gave are 1:1 correct for FS2004. @ Zeljko: You just failed hitting one single keyboard button! Regards from Dresden to Weißwasser and everywhere... Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
April 10, 201313 yr I agree, you are absolutely correct. But just checked and i can't see which part of my post is not related to fs9 Why don't you try the first line where you mention the 'FSX menu'... Acceleration vs SP2? I think you're talking about FSX version again rather than the FS9 one that's the topic here. Regards This is so confusing... We need a of the main forum page where the recent post section specifically states FS9 or FSX. These FSX users act like their sim is the only one everyone is using. Like we all like tweaking instead of flying. They can't help themselves. Many don't even realize there was an FS9 version of the CS727. Again I'll have to check CaptainSim's site myself (been too busy with the iFly bird lately) when I get the chance and look for mods myself. Can't get a straight answer here. I actually like the CS727's VC so hopefully something is out there. I already have the DreamFleet version. April 10, 201313 yr Thanks Harald, i use both sims so that can happen. Anyway, this applies to both simulators. Why don't you try the first line where you mention the 'FSX menu'... Typing mistake, you can see that If you read further. I mentioned fs9 several times after that, as in previous posts. I think we just wasted some time and forum space on things that are not important or useful. And after that we still wonder why Avsim forums are so slow sometimes... Zeljko Budovic

There has been so many FSX mix-ups here I've gotten really frustrated. I know I'm saying this over again but the mix up must be in how things are listed on the main forum page for recent posts. April 10, 201313 yr No problem, just kidding about slow forums... Yes, I've seen that a few times this week. Probably becouse topics are not categorized on the main page Zeljko Budovic
April 11, 201313 yr Author Hi Maurice,Yes that sounds like the yaw damper problem, though. In fact, I see my method as a shortcut, being too lazy to read the entire manual beforehand lol.I just checked again and yaw damper was off. No rudder issues. From the start I've been keeping the dampers off until I'm ready to engage a/p.I need to read the tutorial for this lol. I set off an alarm twice on my last flight. Not sure exactly what I did to turn it off the first time. I think it had to do with air pumps and internal air pressure.I have to say, out of all my add ons, this 727 is giving me the most intense experience :Whew: . Vor, manual throttle, a/p climb and descend trim, amazing weather radar. Wow! I'm loving this. And another thing I really dig is that now I can enable "turbulence on aircraft". We track vor signal by using hdg hold and throttle is manual. PMDG gets all weird with turbulence turned on using ASE.One thing I find strange is why the manual only give you weight/Vref speed for flaps 30 and 40. I thought most 727 land using flaps 25?I can't wait to do another flight after my work out in a few hours:). Nature Boy
April 11, 201313 yr Hi Maurice, after work I tested the rudder behaviour again, using my saved flight. Yaw damper off - absolutely no strange behaviour. Yaw damper on - fluttering rudder. But anyway, I can live with that. Glad that you haven't this problem anymore. Regarding flaps, I normally land with flaps 30. Maybe this was a suggestion here from the forum. Look here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/388483-a-good-freeware-b737-200/ at post ## 22 and 23 (although the thread title says something different, these posts are dealing with the 727). Have nice flights! Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
April 11, 201313 yr Author Thanks Harald. I'll have a look at it after this. Ran into a little problem. I'm not sure if it was like this from the start but today I noticed my IAS is showing 45 knots while sitting on the ground not doing anything. Started the sim again with the same result. Weird. Also, a few times now the plane is loading with engine 1 running when I had selected "before engine start" state. I may have to reinstall and see what happens. These are either bugs or something in my installation is not right. I have a feeling something might have gotten messed up in my installation because when I first got this, I loaded up the airplane without doing the default flight first. ***edit*** aah silly me. The IAS indicator's minimum is 45. I just loaded up a flight to test, I disabled parking brakes and hit full throttle. The numbers didn't start moving until the plane was over the indicated speed. I also set "ready for taxi" panel state and it came out right. I hope the engine 1 running is just a bug when I pick "before engine start". It has happened a few times. Sorry if I forgot to mention. The rudder problem I had in the beginning was when I started my flights before loading the default cessna/ksea. I had accidentally done that the first few times because I hadn't read the manual yet. I just checked out the link. Kiwiflyer mentioned 155 @ flaps 30. Is that speed normal for a 727 on approach? I'm not doubting him because he's a pilot, but just curious about the speed. I'm still a newb and have a lot to learn. I'll have a look at the charts in the manual. Nature Boy
April 11, 201313 yr Hm, I have never had the problem with one engine running. My 727 will be there with the state I left her the last time (it's useful particularly for instance for testing purposes, opposite to - let's say - when I crashed my Mi-2 helicopter once more and have to repeat the whole startup procedure everytime...). Regarding the speed, I rather have 140 kts or slower @ 30 ° flaps. In one of the threads I linked above, there was another link to some rules of thumb calculating speeds for the 727. Generally, I tend to be rather slow as I came to the 727 from flying propliners and so the higher speeds still worry me. So it's better to believe Ian (kiwiflyer) than me. Hope I could help a little though. Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
April 12, 201313 yr Author I think somehow the 727 is taking parts of the active panel state from the default cessna because in my default flight, the cessna is up and running. I don't encounter this problem if I set it for cold&dark or ready for taxi in the configurator. I'm used to flying heavy, with PMDG MD-11 and CLS DC-10 being used the most. So 155 can feel pretty fast on a small plane like the 727 lol. But I trust Ian and will try doing 155 approach from now on. I may back it off a bit until I get better if I find it too fast. Thanks again for all your help. Your posts and others on this thread has been a huge help for me and I really appreciate it. Nature Boy
April 12, 201313 yr One more approach, used for Leonardo Maddog, but you can use it for DF727 or any other payware plane. Here is what you need to do to avoid any problems, states used from cessna etc: " - Before starting your sim, go to "manager&setup" and set weights, fuel and panel state - Every time load your flight in default cesnna - turn engine off - turn ignition switch all the way to the left - turn master switch off - turn avionics off Cesnna switches and levers:http://www.learn2flymea.com/cockpit.html Now from fs9 inside menu, select Maddog(or another plane). You will have correct cold&dark panel and correctly loaded plane, passanegers and fuel - as you previously configured in manager&setup during preflight" I copied this from my older post, i belive you know cessna switches and levers, but i'll leave all like in original post Zeljko Budovic
April 13, 201313 yr Author Hi Zeljko, Thanks for the tip. I will keep it in mind. I think it's either a bug OR I forgot to save the panel state in the configurator. I did 3 more flights since then and no problem at all. Thanks again for the help. Nature Boy
