pmdg 777 cant wait

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Are we all waiting patiently?

Thing is it doesn't matter when the 777 is released, I bet the next day there will be a post on here somewhere asking when the DC6 will be released lol.

I'd hate to read RSR's reply to that one!

But just thinking aloud about the 21st April and that being 3x7...............hahahahaha and I said I'd never react to weird coded clues in post's here!

happy flying all,

Happy Flying,

Dave Phillips.

I don't normally make requests for release dates and such, but I'm compelled to chime in here.

First, if the 777 is anywhere close to the quality and realism of the 737NGX, then I'll happily wait as long as necessary for it to be released without constantly asking for release dates.

However, while I understand and respect a developer's right not to provide any release dates or related information, I do believe that PMDG could very well give interested customers at least a rough idea of when it will finally be released, e.g. within 6 months.

Being this far into the development process, PMDG surely knows whether it will be able to release the product within 6 months, a year, or longer.  If you simply want to stick to a policy of never providing this information even if you know it, then that's another story.

Thank you.

Having been involved in developing gaming content I can assure you that it's not that easy. From my own experience I can say this.

From PMDG's POV, just from the things I've read from RSR and Tabs and Jason.. etc, is that they're constantly striving to push the envelop with their products and FSX. They could have a build that would be by RSR's definition "Complete" and ready for our consumption but find out that someone in their team figured out how to push FSX a little bit further which means reworking code and possibly the assets themselves which means 3 more months work. They decide it's worth the extra time for the benefits. Release dates are BAAAD. Less unhappy people when kept in the dark regarding release date then missing a release date for any reason...

Oh yeah almost forgot. Regarding the quality, PMDG has said many many times that the T7 will be on the same level and maybe ever better than the NGX in certain areas. Really looking forward to this elegant beast!

I'd like me a sweet PMDG T7 now please!

Well, on that hypothetical point I disagree:  that delay is better mitigated by a follow on service pack etc.  "Just one more feature" can be a bottomless pit.

Agreed but that's not for us to decide. This is also why they'll eventually get to "that" point and give us a definitive release date. My example was something like major earth shattering though not just one more feature!

I was thinking more about when the new 747 was going to be released ;)
