April 10, 201313 yr I have seen videos of the FSL Concorde X on YouTube and I have read that many people love this plane. It looks like a greay addon, and I am thinking about buying the Concorde X, but first I want to be aware of what problems/issues people have been having with this plane. My regards,Nathan3219 FSX: PMDG 744/MD11/JS41/736/737/738/739, CS752/753/763/C130, SimCheck A300, Leonardo MD82, MJC DH8D, Aerosoft CRJ7/CRJ9/A318/A319/A320/A321, RAZBAM Metroliner, ORBX Global, FlyTampa KBUF/OMDB/TNCM/VHHX, ActiveSky Next DCS: A-10C II/F-16C/AH-64D/F-15E/KA-50 III/Mi-24/Persian Gulf/Syria/F-15C XP11: FF 752/753, iniBuilds A306, HotStart TBM900 MSFS: Fenix A320, FS2Crew Fenix A320, FS2Crew Pushback Express, PMDG B77W, ActiveSky FS, Drzewiecki Design UUEE
April 10, 201313 yr The only issue is that it is very demanding on memory resources, so if you are not careful with addon scenery usage, LOD radius, autogen density, and AI traffic usage, it can quickly cause OOM errors. I am running 4.5 LOD radius, no AI traffic, and normal autogen at the moment to see if my OOM issues stop. Also, it is very complex and difficult to master, but it comes with a great tutorial. April 10, 201313 yr It is hands down the most complex aircraft for fsx, and probably in actual aviation history. The virtual flight engineer really helps to lighten the load. If you get it, make sure to grab the concorde performance calculator from the FSLabs forum. It will greatly assist in preparing weights, fuel loading, and CIVA cards for the INS, and performance data for landing/takeoff. Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk HD Shane Gavin
April 11, 201313 yr Well, just finished a flight from LAX to HNL. Other than starting my descent a little late(still figuring out the decel point) it went really well. The in-flight reverser thrust really helped out in getting low and slow in time for the approach. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 Shane Gavin
April 11, 201313 yr On my computer, it adds 2.3gb to vas usage. My base fsx vas usage is around 1.5gb. So if I add 2.3gb to 1.5, it takes me to 3.8, which is precariously close to the oom crash level of 4. And that's before I even take off and fly to a new scenery area. So, for me, it's unusable. April 11, 201313 yr I'll copy and paste what I wrote in a different recent thread.. I'll say a few negatives... I was disappointed in the lack of fully operational VC. You are forced to use old school 2D panel most of the time. I can see why however, because FSX could never handle such a loaded VC. Which brings up my 2nd negative... Stability. One needs a very solid and stable PC for Concorde X cause it is rather edgy and quirky at times. I learned to load minimal .dll's and load other planes first to keep Concorde X from glitching out. Last negative, many of the VC textures look subpar compared to other high shelf planes on the market. Again, probably due to compromise of FSX limitations however.
April 11, 201313 yr I bought this plane last week and its a great challenge in trying to master as I'm used to Boeings!
April 11, 201313 yr I bought it a month or so ago and am still trying to figure out how to get it off the ground, it's like no other plane you've ever flown, it's impossible to just step onto the flight deck and know instinctively what to do, you really need to sit there and go step by step through everything in the manual. VC does look a bit dated, but it's not that noticable when you actually get flying it, but I've yet to have a CTD, and FPS are about on par with the PMDG 747 or JS41... Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
April 11, 201313 yr Ronan - in your 'about me' profile what does the TRI/TRE stand for with the A320?
April 11, 201313 yr What does the TRI/TRE stand for with the A320? It means Type Rating Instructor/Examiner, unless I'm mistaken. Florian
April 11, 201313 yr Rónán - in your 'about me' profile what does the TRI/TRE stand for with the A320? Type Rating Instructor / Type Rating Examiner. Basically I teach pilots to fly the A320 and then examine them on their performance and make sure that they meet both regulatory standards and then also meet the higher company standards... Although for the most part, my teaching duties seem to be more on the side of teaching about company ethos, passenger interaction, work mate interaction, CRM and answering technical questions on our crew forum instead of formally instructing and examining. Regards, Ró. Edit: It means Type Rating Instructor/Examiner, unless I'm mistaken. Beat me to it...  Regards, Ró. Edited April 11, 201313 yr by Rónán O Cadhain Rónán O Cadhain.
April 11, 201313 yr Ro If you can't get it off the ground,i doubt i'd get it to the runway  steve REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
April 11, 201313 yr Ro If you can't get it off the ground,i doubt i'd get it to the runway  steve I think I just need a couple of days to myself with it to get a few hops in and I think I'll be grand, but it's certainly not an aircraft you can just walk onto and fly, it does things I didn't even knew aircraft did, and you also need to manage the Flight Engineers panel in addition to flying the aircraft... I'm sure I'll get a chance to sit down and properly learn to fly it some day soon. Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
April 11, 201313 yr The tutorial is really helpful in learning the aircraft. Also, the virtual Flight Engineer option is extremely helpful. There is a fantastic Concorde performance calculator available as well via the forum. It will even generate INS route cards. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 Shane Gavin
