Been waiting a loonng time for a version with pants/fairings. Disappointed they didn't show that in the gallery.Craig

But before you break out your wallet, you just may want to check out the excellent freeware C-172 still available from Real Air Simulations. http://www.realairsimulations.comBob

It still says coming soon for the download link? I only see the manual. By the way, does anyone know if it will be possible to mix the Realair 172 flight dynamics with this model and panel? That would just be too amazing! (not to criticise the flight dynamics that come with the plane, I don't even have it yet!)

Now you know that's what I've been waitin to see Jim. When's the link gonna work so we can get it on our computers?Zane

Good to see ya Zane...Glad to see Flight1 releasing this aircraft, although I am saving my bucks for Eaglesoft's CJ-1... The RealAir C-172 uses the default MSFS model. It's a pity Microsoft never included wheel pants with the default 172 model because otherwise it's a very nice visual model for the 172.Another great freeware Cessna model is the 206 recently released. Mike Stone's 337 is also nice, although I wish he would have included wing views on that aircraft, since with all the repaint support it's received I consider it the best 337 going...I wanted to ask Zane--how is the Falcon project coming?-John

>(not to criticise the flight dynamics that come with the>plane, I don't even have it yet!)And you better not ;-)I honestly never tried RealAir's 172 but I can tell you that Flight1's 172 flies beautifully. Having logged about 200 hours in a real Skyhawk I can appreciate the effort that went into achieving not only the "numbers" but the "feel" as well. And after flying her for a couple of hours I hope you won't touch the default 172 with a 10 foot pole (considering graphics AND flight dynamics). *:-*Michael J.WinXP-Home,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8, Radeon X800 Pro,WD 36GB Raptor,1 GB PC3200

Hi John,My eyes got too crossed so I gave the Falcon a little break. Have the bitmaps for the instruments done and about half of the xml programming together, found nice images of the engine gauge. After that I need to get back to finishing the textures and assigning them and the flight model. Was just thinking about it the other day so it's starting to cause an itch again.Zane

>Please say I'm not seeing that correctly...Ok, your not seeing correctly...Regards.Jim Rhoads

I think ill wait till the Cd version is out saves me haveing to remember to back up the think onto cd...

Thanks Owen--it looks fantastic... I do suggest (given there's still a substantial FS2002 user base) that if the model is done in GMAX, that you offer a visual model compiled for FS2002 as well as FS2004. Many vendors are now doing that, with the disclaimer that some functionality may be sacrificed in FS2002... Such a great looking model will be welcomed by all!-John

OK Jim here's the plan... I'll sneak out of work early tomorrow. You will plan on realesing no later than mid afternoon. That way I can pay you and have time to fly the new 172 before the "boss" gets home. She'll be planning on me taking her out to dinner (though she hasn't told ME that yet, but it happens that way around here most Friday's). And then I'll get to come home and fly the 172 some more. Now, let's sychronize watches... :-) Greg
