Dash-8 prop animations slow motion after calibrating my throttle.

Featured Replies

So I flew twice yesterday and the aircraft seemed to function fine. My only issue was to calibrate my throttle so that the plane didn't go into thrust reverse when I pulled my Saitek X52 throttle back to about 40%. So tonite I calibrated the throttle and it functions really nice, plus the sounds match up well etc.

However it appears to have caused a problem with the prop animations. I noticed doing a flight tonite my props looked OK at start up, but once I applied power they barely rotate now, even at full throttle. It literally takes a few seconds for the prop to do one revolution, plus the prop sort of skips around a little. It looks like the prop is rotating in very slow motion. I'm certain it wasn't doing that yesterday. Anybody else experiance this after calibrating the engine throttle to your throttle controller?

yes, had the same problem. After a computer restart however everything was fine.

very slow prop motion can only be a windmill. Is the prop feathered ?

If it's windmill, it means that the engines went off, probably due to a bad CL calibration

I can confirm after feathering an engine in flight, securing it, and then restarting it, that both props seemed to be feathered and windmilling as far as the animation went.  Engine instruments said otherwise.

Try refreshing the scenery. There's no button assigned to that by default, but I have it assigned to Ctrl+A. It takes a couple of seconds to reload. It's also a great feature to use if your scenery is blurred from switching to the wrong tower view or something. Sometimes it also fixes "stuck" animations in sound and visual fx.

The engines definately didn't shut down as I was flying just fine, holding altitude and speed etc. Also the sounds matched what my throttles were doing too. The only issue was the props visually turned like they were in slow motion. On the ground I could feather the props (change the angle of the blades) watch it happen, but the props still rotated very slow.

Anyway after reading Lenny's post above I fired it up and did a short flight and the prop animations were perfectly fine, or back to normal. Since yesterday I had shut down the computer and started it again today, so maybe that was it. I will post if I have more issues with it.

Yes!, the engines are on, it happened to me yesterday BUT was after I clicked something and then I clicked another button like to fast close to the other one...at that point the props animation, jump to a crawl... I just proceded to the runway took off and continue flying... A computer re-start fixed the issue...

Ok guys just to confirm....is this what you were seeing?

My reason for getting this may be different to yours...but just trying to see if we're on the same page.  This was corrected by a re-start as well.

Yep, same here. I have since done 3 flights now and the props looked just fine.

Same slow animation here as well.

For all that are experiencing the slow prop annimations - has the problems self corrected after the re-boot or are you still having this problem.

Yes Simeon.  I've experienced the issue twice after in-flight single engine shut downs and restarts.  Simply restarting FSX fixed my issue.
