April 26, 201313 yr Hello, the Q400 sounds are great, but I am having an issue with my exterior sounds. The volume of the sounds when in spot view is very low, too low to really enjoy them. The volume of the sounds in fly-by view is perfect, and if I could somehow get that sound volume transferred over to spot view I'd be a happy camper. I seem to remember this being mentioned somewhere else before, but i can't find it now...I'm guessing it may be buried in one of those long all-purpose threads that popped up upon release. Thanks! April 26, 201313 yr Regis - if you are in spot view, just zoom in bit closer. The sounds will then get louder. All best..... Ray L.
April 27, 201313 yr What Ray said. The sound set is one of (if not the) most realistic available for an fsx aircraft. As you move closer to the plane the sound will get exponentially louder...to the point of practically over modulating my speakers. Matt L.
April 27, 201313 yr I agree with the topic starter, even when zoomed in quite close with an external view, engine noise is pretty low... Hope there's a fix...
April 27, 201313 yr Ditto, and the .ini file has the same settings as my buddy who has perfect sounds, so that is not the issue. Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules
April 27, 201313 yr Author I went into the .ini file and turned exterior sounds up to 100% so it is a bit better now, although spot view is still much quieter than fly-by or overhead views. I find it strange that the sound is louder in fly-by and overhead views given that those views should be further from the aircraft? April 28, 201313 yr I thought I was the only one and almost updated my directx. That's right I found it spotting far from above sounds a lot louder than zooming to max when on the ground with engines running. Perhaps that is realistic but I don't mind being a bit unrealistic with louder interior engine sound. Sorry for being off topic guys but does when the throttle to idle the plane moves forward, I think I have misconceptions about how the throttle actually works. Anyone please educate me? Just got it last night, yes last night and don't have access to my ps at the moment, nor have I read the manual
April 28, 201313 yr Yes, I have the same issue. I've the set the exterior sound to 200% in the .ini file. But that did not really solve the issue. I hope Majestic will be able to fix the problem. Greetings Tim Greetings Tim My files on Flightsim.to i5 12600K | 32Gb | RTX 4080
April 28, 201313 yr I don't have any issues with exterior sounds volume being too low. For me the problem is, they sound too weak...anyone else getting this?
May 10, 201313 yr I went into my mjc84.ini to try and tweak the exterior sounds, but couldn't find any reference to exterior sounds, am I looking in the right file? The only reference I could find was: the XXXX_sound_level has 3 values in % (from 0..100), for cockpit, cabin and external views But all the other references were to cabin, gear, wind, roll, avionics etc, no external sound? Eugene
May 11, 201313 yr If you zoom in the volume increases, this was a feature that Majestic thought would be more realistic. A good idea in theroy, but they're aware more people dislike it than not. Last I heard they intend on disabling this "feature" and having constant volume regardless of zoom. Ty J. Peres - KBZN
May 11, 201313 yr I heard that too, but no change in version 1.06, for me at least. For some people zooming in does the trick, but makes no difference for me. Might be because I use EZDoc for outside views..
August 31, 201312 yr I have found a fix for this sound problem, just look for my other posts. I missed this post while posting a windows tweak that should fix the sound problem for most people. Charles Here it is.................... If you are experiencing low external engine volume on a Windows based operating system, please follow the following instructions to fix this issue............ Right click on the speaker icon on the windows tray, (usually bottom right hand corner of screen) Select playback device. Select your playback device in the device menu. Press "Properties" Navigate to the "Enhancements" tab. Tick the check box on "Loudness Equalization" The sound will now be evened out, low sound volume will be increased and higher sound volume will be decreased. "The loudness equalization uses understanding of human hearing to reduce perceived volume differences in Windows 7" ******Your sound card, if you have one, may have this option too*******. The above instructions should fix the sound issues that some people are experiencing with this software. I have had confirmation from one user that it works great! Hope this helps...................
