"Your" top 5 N.F.L. Quarterbacks

Featured Replies

You have a first year year guy ranked third of all time, he has not won a single SB but your saying he could leap frog Montana. Your top three is all niners QB's one being a first year starter, and your a niners fan.

I remember about 10 years ago everybody was saying how brady is going to have way more SB wins than Montana.. How has that worked out for him and the patriots? So in my opinion you need to pump the brakes on Kaepernick a bit, he may never even get to another sb let alone win one. I am sure a lot of Dolphin fans in 1984 thought that Marino would win a ton of SB's. How did that work out? and Marino's second season (1984) was the best QB season of all time.

You still seem not to understand my ratings, despite the fact that I explained them in my post, both from a top-down view and on an individual case.

Let me spell it out plainly for you, by copying and pasting the relevant part re: Kapernick:

"He gets this spot on the list because of raw talent, potential, and the fact that he's on a great team that could bring back the dynasty days of the 80's/early 90's in S.F."

I can read just fine.

As I said . Top 5 of ALL TIME is not a place for potential and raw talent. The body of work is not there yet to justify a spot. I could not even put Rodgers on the list for that reason and he has already is a three time pro bowler, superbowl champ and a MVP. We have no way of knowing right now how Kaepernicks career will turn out, or how the niners will turn out over the next 5 years. maybe 10 years from now he will deserve consideration but he has to DO IT first.

Consider it a prognostication then, an end-of-career overview.  I all but said it was speculation already, need I state it in plain text to simplify?

Who were you referring to earlier with your 5 SB starts, 3 wins comment?

I know you put him there based on where you think his career is going and I think it's very early to make a judgement on him. You have to look at it from how others see it. It's hard to see your list as objective when you put a first year starter over then many great QB's that have played this game, and your top three just happens to be all niners.... your favorite team.

The 5 superbowls and winning 3 comment was aimed at the topic starter who left Brady off his all time list because he is a system QB... :Rolling Eyes:

Then he posts that his list was based on Superbowl wins and appearances

Every single one of our lists is subjective.  They're all just opinion.

Dan Marino

Joe Montana

Johnny Unitas

Jim Kelly

Otto Graham

6: Dan Fouts

Graham: who else got his team in the championship game 10 years in a row? Surely he was ranked 1st to 3rd in the world all ten.

Fouts: No mobility. HIke! And then instead of running backwards oriented like a boxer with one side angled forward, he scampered straight backwards shoulders square to the sidelines, both eyes looking straight ahead. Nobody saw the field better with such situational awareness. The Vegas over/under line would move double digits if he got injured and could not play.

Steve Young: I'm a big 49er fan... But Young in the top 10, OK. But top 5 ????

I would try to sneak John Brody in a top 10, Go Niners!

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Kaepernick: I saw his career in Turlock High and Nevada Reno (The Wolf Pack is my favorite local team, and I travel to central California weekly to a place near Turlock). Problem: he was so frail, and skinny looking. Then suddenly he looks like Captain Marvel. I hope this is not a pharma issue (I'm a 49 er fan)!

I know, call me sentimental.  He really was an outstanding QB though, I think if he won another championship during his time he could easily be ranked up there by less subjective people (i.e. not me).

Kaep's a beast.  I doubt he's the steroid type, he seems like a pretty smart guy.

1. Joe Montana

2. Steve Young

3. Jim McMachon

4. Troy Atkman

5. Brett Farve

All got SB rings on their fingers great in different ways.

1. Montana never threw picks or made critical mistakes in his career. Never dare a Vick move when you have Jerry Rice and Taylor catch balls under pressure.

2. Young was good replacement for Montana rare NFL replacement good as original.

3. McMahon was heathy and good offensive line was deadly destroyed certain teams to the point of demoralizing them before the playoffs. Run the ball or play the fake hand off and throw easy TD down the field. The Bears misused him as did the Vikings.

4. Akiman started out playing first 1-15 with the cowboys and by 4th season they were SB champs Irivin and great running game to balance it out.

5. Brett Farve was marked QB because play thru pain injury, crappy offensive lines, still had got a ring and never seemed complian like today's QB do. Unfortunate Moss was egoistal a-hole and Vikings coach Childress made wrong play calls or discision critical in the game. The Packers dumbs him just as good replacement with AARoN Rogers.

What's a Quarterback? Is it a single engine GA, Twin, jet?

The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas, Sonny Jurgensun and the Water Boy.

1.  Dan Marino

2.  Terry Bradshaw

3.  Joe Montana

4.  Johnny Unitas

5.  Roger Staubach

Dennis Trawick

Never forget who could win the big games.

If you count Canadian Football , then add Warren Moon !

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

The Vikings had Moon, what about Doug Fultie was CFL QB won Grey Cup was pretty decent. CFL QB gotta be more mobile like Mike Vic playing got longer field to work with.
