May 13, 201313 yr Over on the FSX forum some fellow asked about the LDS 767. Tom had to shut down the thread after it predictably turned into a shouting match between 2 preschoolers, but lost in that was what I consider to be some of the most important news we've heard in a long time about this hobby (and I'm including the PMDG 777 in that). A fellow named Andre, who I guess is part of the LDS development team, indicated that work on the 757 was nearing completion and implied that we could expect its release in 2013. I checked over at the "official" forum and Daryl seems to be saying the same thing. So my question is, if this bird is actually close, why isn't this forum filled with excitement? I can't believe there's not a ton of posts about it. Maybe everyone's too cynical after all these years. Lest we forget, last time LDS released a product (circa 2006) their quality was considered by most to be on a par with PMDG's. I understand the PMDG has evolved and grown since then, but hopefully so has LDS. I never thought it would happen! Dan Cole Dan Cole
May 13, 201313 yr Unlike PMDG the Level-D guys aren't full time developers. There have been quite literally 100's of rumours over the years. I'll only believe the 757 is released when i have downloaded and installed it. Ian R Tyldesley
May 13, 201313 yr Level who? never heard of them  if the 757 is so close to release why is there not 1 preview photo somewhere on this planet
May 13, 201313 yr Level who? never heard of them  if the 757 is so close to release why is there not 1 preview photo somewhere on this planet  We all like to speculate about speculating the speculation!. I think I've said that somewhere sometime. The "two" people (from what I've heard) that are "Level-D" have very real lives with kids and full-time jobs. Couple that with developing for FSX and then throw in all the advancements like was already mentioned by other dev teams (requiring some reworking of things most likely along the way) and then the fidelity of systems depth expected and you have a Loooong development cycle. If I were one of those fellas, I wouldn't care about releasing previews until I had something close to completion. Then again that's me and my opinion. I'm trying to put myself in their shoes... Damn my feet seem reallllly small! Jon Preston

May 13, 201313 yr I prefer the 'say nothing until you're within a stone's throw of release' approach. I recall when companies like Airsimmer and Airliner-XP were talking up their respective A320's and how much expectation was built around them. Ultimately (with no disrespect to the individuals involved) those projects disappointed a great many people. As and when Level-D are ready to release the 757, I'll be in line for it. Until then we have plenty to enjoy right now, and plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Mark Adeane - NZWN
May 13, 201313 yr Love this plane. If LDS releases it I will buy it on day one, even over the PMDG 777.
May 13, 201313 yr If this is indeed true greatness lies ahead for the airliner enthusiast. Ryan Kelly

That's how far advanced it was. If it's true, my credit card is ready!
May 13, 201313 yr Author Sounds like most folks haven't read the stuff I'm talking about: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/407412-level-d-767-would-you-still-rate-it-in-2013/ http://www.leveldsim.com/forums/any-new-planes-coming_topic25430.html Draw your own conclusions. Dan Cole
May 13, 201313 yr So my question is, if this bird is actually close, why isn't this forum filled with excitement? I can't believe there's not a ton of posts about it. Maybe everyone's too cynical after all these years. Previews are good, but they cause so much anticipation between people for a release date that may take about one / two years to come (go check out PMDG's Facebook page and see comments people have put up for a pure example). I would imagine that isn't the reason why there hasn't been any or very little, but its good to keep things a little quiet until a few months from release in my opinion. Of-course as soon as those big 7-8 picture long previews come there will be big talk about it. I personally never owned the LD 767, I was probably too engrossed in the PMDG 747 at the time ^_^. It will be interesting to see what all the fuss (?) was/is about with LD as I've read quite a few topics about the 767 and it sounds like a nice and complex craft.

It is interesting. I am not even sure how Level-D will release; will i get up tomorrow and find it at Sim Market? Still not getting excited... Going to be a good year for FS, PMDG 777, FSL A320, Majestic Q400 and possibly the LD 757, expensive but good. Ian R Tyldesley
