May 28, 201313 yr @Clipper Ocean Spray / When using ProAtcX, the STAR for the arrival airport is given during flight rather than at the flightplanning stage... so is it necessary to know which STAR is in operation prior to departure? or is the relevent STAR automatically assigned during the flight once it has been assigned by ATC? I hope I have explained myself OK... cheers. May 29, 201313 yr I'm the author of AISIDSTAR. Thanks Julian (and everyone) for the feedback. I'm actually working on a new version right now with significantly better capabilities. Ronald Kohls (must give him credit) suggested to me why not monitor more than one airport? It then dawned on me that he was right, with a little modification, there wasn't a limit to the number of airports the program could monitor as long as it had SID and STAR files for those airport. For example, you can monitor all the airports in a region at the same time. Ronald wrote up SID and STAR files for the major airports in the LA metro region (KLAX, KBUR, KLGB, KONT, KSMO, KSNA, and KVNY). That's me. Thank you very much, Roland. That is - sort of - my entry into the developers world of flightsimming, and I'm very excited to play a part in that. AISIDSTAR and the idea behind fascinated me from the first second. Thank you again Roland for the invitation of teamwork. LAX is my favourite airport so I had much fun to write up the other airports of the LAX metro region. I began the work on other airports, so later I think there will be other airports available, but please, be patient Thank you! brgds, Ron(ald) brgds, Ron Flying P3Dv5 with PMDG 737 NGXu, 747v3, 777; QW 787; Orbx; Chaseplane, AI Lights Reborn Pro, Lots of AI, AIController Visit www.airlinesim.aero

Now that I'm switching over to monitoring multiple airports, I can see the need to routinely load hundreds of SID/STAR files if the user wants to monitor a region, state or small country. -Roland Hi Roland, first of all thank you for this amazing software, secondly if you need any volunteers for data input I'll be happy to put in a few hours. May 30, 201313 yr Hmm... this looks very interesting. Perhaps you could also implement generic arrival procedures for the majority of airports that do not have SIDS or STARS... i.e. vector AI to downwind, base, final depending on direction of arrival. If the program could intelligently vector, control speed, and separate all arriving aircraft, that would really be ground-breaking !!! I wrote a utility very similar to this for FS 5.1 in the old adventure programming language! ATC would vector the user aircraft through a basic pattern. The user could control parameters like base leg length, final leg length, etc. I could use a similar algorithm to control the AI. I'll consider adding this feature, although I don't have time to add it to the next version. Thanks for the suggestion! @Clipper Ocean Spray: For the time being could you please add support for EHAM and EDDF soon? Thanks, Dirk. Sure, I'll add some pre-configured files for EHAM and EDDF. Any news on the update? Thanks. Yes, I'm mostly complete revising AISIDSTAR. The biggest revision - simultaneous control of AI traffic at multiple airports - appears to be working. I'm writing a separate utility right now that converts standard SID/STAR files into a format recognized by AISIDSTAR.

I hope I have explained myself OK... cheers. The user is free to fly any STAR. As for the AI, when FSX spawns an AI approaching the airport, AISIDSTAR selects the STAR with the entry point closest to the AI taking into account turn distance (standard rate). If you want to better the chances of the getting assigned the same STAR as you, limit the STAR files AISIDSTAR reads for that airport to the ones ProATcX typically assigns. You can create multiple folders for the same airport with different "sets" of STAR and SID files, then activate one of the folders depending on what type of flight operations (e.g., active STARs and SIDs) you want to see at the airport. This is an interesting issue. The next version will let automatically generate SID/STAR files for as many airports as you want and then monitor them simultaneously. For the airports that you're passing by, the automatically generated files can be used "as is" without problems. It may be desirable however to tweak some of the files associated with the airports you land at or depart from.

Ronald wrote up SID and STAR files for the major airports in the LA metro region (KLAX, KBUR, KLGB, KONT, KSMO, KSNA, and KVNY). The new version will load up all of those SID and STAR files (if you tell it to) and then vector the AI at all of those airports at the same time. The result is that when you're flying through the region, all of the AI (except enroute AI passing through the area at flight levels) are following published SID and STAR procedures. I'll include those files in the new version. You can also monitor your departure and destination airports at the same time. That way you don't need to stop the utility after departure in order to reconfigure for the destination. You can also monitor your favorite airports, so won't need to reconfigure at all if you fly between those airports. There are also some bug fixes. The biggest one I've heard about so far occurs when you're flying some distance from a monitored airport (e.g., 50 nm) and FSX generates a AI aircraft near you that has departed from the monitored airport. The AI will unrealistically turn around and fly back to the airport in order to execute a SID. In the new version, AI aircraft departing a monitored airport will only fly a SID if they are spawned by FSX near that airport. Another noticeable bug is that sometimes the AI over banks during sharp turns, although they will continue flying the pattern. -Roland F. Roland congrats on your work ... some years ago me and a few other friends were working on something similar but do to persomal reason we left it unfinished . what we manage to do was get the AI traffic to follow SIDs and STARs we also worked on Voice packs , we got as far as covering must of the major airports in florida with great results but when real life (family/Money/time got on the way we had to rest development . The files are all saved in my Drobos so maybe later on we would continue were we left , who knows .. Once again Congrats on your work mate .... Image removed as image is no longer available.
