Remember The Biggest XP10 Complaint?

Not a keeper for me, but if it wasn't running like a dog with my ATI GPU, I would be tempted to dig further

I can understand you have mixed emotions about X-Plane. Really though, you can't blame Laminar for ATI's lack of support for OpenGL. If some day along the way you change your card for an Nvidia, revisit X-Plane, you may be surprised.

Runs okay on my system but too much $$$ invested in FSX at the moment.

Limited funds means I choose between the pending PMDG 777 or XPX.  I choose the T7 on an established fully modded platform.

you're running a 64bit Operating system, 1 day you will have to switch to 64bit FlightSims and see the stability and graphical improvement in scenery payware addons and aircraft.  I have a feeling PMDG will blow our minds when they release their Xplane10 Payware because it will be 64bit with much more features than the 32bit FSX NGX.

Well that I can understand,. The thing is everything changes over time, even opinions.

Absolutely....... I'm not intending to blame anyone (I don't know enough about the reasons for the XP10 / ATI card issues).

But equally, whatever the cause for the problem, I would firmly and fairly recommend ATI card owners to stay clear of XP10.     It's just not a wholesome experience; it's not in anyway a like for like or even similar experience to what it would be for nVidia owners.

Shame, because as I summarized above, the flight modelling seems great and the illusion of altitude was awesome.... but not with an environment so dumbed down, (due to the ATI issue) that it looks like FS8!  :Black Eye:

Ok, and just 1 more question...

Under the "class" of OSM country/continent sceneries (these are facades), if I have, say:

Osm_Europe_osm+autogen     and     Osm_Portugal_osm+autogen

how should I declare them in the "scenery_packs.ini" file?  Portugal first and then Europe?

OSM_portugal_osm+autogen is a subset of the Osm_Europe_osm+autogen file -- you can safely delete the Portugal OSM since it's already included in the larger Europe OSM file.

Oops!  Thx carrotroot!!!

I also become very interested in XP10, thanks to all the nice posts of Five by Five. Tried the demo and a was impressed especially the night lightning is stunning. Now that there are some very nice freeware add-ons out it certainly make me think switching from FSX. The only thing that holds me is what Chris sad about a good ATC and AI traffic, such as UT2. And I have still too much fun with FSX with all my add-ons wich I have collected over the last years, and what I still do!

Its not an option for me using two flightsims side by side. I think that XP10 will have the future with the growing support, and I'm convinced that I will take the switch sometime. Time will tell!

In the meantime I will follow the developments and the posts here closely. Keep them coming!

Thanks to all in this thread, these SimHeaven osm + autogen packs really do make a difference!

Yes, and there are many other good sources. Do not forget to pay a visit to X-Plane FR: http://xpfr.org/

Portugal, for instance, and the city of Lisbon, look really nice with the latest version I got from them yesterday. Madeira airport, by one of our friends here at the forum :-), is also a must have, at least for me :-)

I am looking fwd for the 757, since I skipped the 777, and I am yet to make a decision between Peter's A380 or A321...

I am also waiting for the updates to 64 bit of my two Carenados - B58 and PA34T :-)

Really enjoying this return to the World of "X"...

Errm, and the clouds? Sheesh, if Austin actually did something with those awful skies I may just be tempted...

There are really awful clouds out there in reality: picture below taken today.

remember the 380 is like 90% Complete and the 321 is like 60% complete.....both are still in beta/update Cycle and will be finished by summer/fall.  The 321 3D VC will arrive in summer also.  BUT BOTH PLANES HAVE AMAZING:  Sounds, "Flight Models" and "FlyByWire" systems.  You should also look into the EMBRAER 170/190 series by SSG....beautiful low price high quality payware.

What’s new in E-170 V2:

- Fuselage, stabilizers, winglets, external and internal details

- Performance configuration (same as E-190 but with E-170 values and behaviors)

- New detailed repaints (note that old repaints will not work with V2)

- Simple cabin interior

- Opening passenger doors

- New lighting effects in HDR

- Wing inspection lights

- Enhanced cockpit lights and better resolution

- HD version (only for X-Plane 10.20)

Five, on your scale how finished is the a320?
(I'm a short haul man) ;)

there's more info on peter's site but you can make complete flights with it including Perfect ILS Landings and it's amazing to hand fly manually also.  With the combo 2D/3D cockpit it's still feels good but the 3D VC will really shine once it's released...it's being made by Ramzzess again just like the 380 VC.

It certainly is a very nice experience and today I added the photo scenery to the island - Whow! It looks really amazing!!!!

You did and excellent work with LPMA uwesped!!! If only you could find a way to get the curved ALS working ;-)
