GSX users: Alternative (human!) Pushback Crew Voices

Recommended Posts

As requested by some users, I have recorded a new set of sound files to replace the (somewhat robotic) voices of the Pushback Crew within FSDT's Ground Services X (GSX).

The sound files were recorded professionally, but have 'intercom' distortion effects added to emulate the sound of the Ground to Flight Deck Intercom in a real airliner.

Installation is as easy as dragging the extracted "fsdreamteam" folder to your main FSX directory.  (Back up your original files first).

NOTE:  This add-on is for GSX users only.

The addon has been uploaded to the AVSIM File Library, your one stop shop for great addons and mods for FS, but while we await approval, if you are really impatient, you can grab the pack here :-

Cheers.

You know you are quickly becoming a hero...;-) And let me know if you need any volunteer voices?

Aw don't, I'll blush!

I love creating things to do with sound and audio, and have invested in decent equipment..... and I love the FS hobby, so combining the two is fun for me.

And if you create something that others may enjoy, it's just common sense to share it I guess.

Wow, David, what a STAR you are!! When I read your earlier reply, I thought to myself, maybe he can pull it off, maybe he cannot. Probably may be a bit difficult to re-code, etc. Well Done and Thanks.

looking forward to some less repetitive boarding song~ :P

I've not touched  boarding songs, (does GSX have a boarding song?) this is the Pushback Guy, and he's far too busy to be listening to songs  :P

Thanks but I can't take the credit for any re-coding.  The pack just replaces the 'robotized' voice crew with "Glen" a real human pushback handler.

Well done and deserved praise. Thanks again Dave. You have become the Eric Clapton of Flight Simming.

Thanks for this, I cant wait to try it out.

BTW, i'm surprised Aerosoft hasn't pulled the download since they publish AES and probably dont like dont like any attention or filed related to a product they dont publish or support posted in their library or site.

... and the Elton John of the AAX!!!   :P

Honestly: I didn't care much about those GSX voices - until you improved them a lot.

Now come on, that's not good for my street cred !

In my experience, Aerosoft take a healthy, sensible, mature views on things like this.  Posting in their forum to say that GSX is better than AES blah blah may not go down too well, but in this case, it's just a user file in their DL Centre, for a specific add-on that doesn't happen to be an Aerosoft product.

The Ground Crew Voice Pack that I did specifically for the Airbus X (Extended) A320/A321 is soon going into the core product, so I have a good relationship with Aerosoft in that regard, and hope to do voice file work for future products too.

You brought in on yourself:

Hey all,

Thanks for the positive words. ... In the next few days I will release v1.2 of this pack, which trims off some pauses at the start and end of each sound file ........... this will correct the one or two cases where the FO talks over the Captain!   (Women, huh!).

Dave, thanks for your work. Just an observation, not a criticism - in reality, the sound through headsets used by flight deck crews to talk to ground engineers is far less distorted than this given that the other end is plugged directly into the flight deck audio. It's broadcast audio and far clearer than ground to air comms. I was doing this in the 80s talking to RAF transport crews, and I would imagine the technology is far better now.

Cheers,

Andy
