June 17, 201312 yr Well, this is beginning to look decent. Just finished a tour of the new Flightbeam KIAD in the Dodosim Bell 206. This time, set both the FSXServer.exe and TrackIR process priorities to high. Not one jitter or flash. The panning is a little stickier that it would be if I was just using TrackIR by itself, but maybe that's addressable by adjusting scan speed and smoothness. Main point is that adjusting the process priorities seems to take care of the flashing and jittering. So thanks again, deetee. Unless something goes sharply wrong with this I'll stop tying up space in this thread. But if I continue to get good results I'll post over at the Opus support forum at Simforums. Haven't seen any mentions there of the priority adjustment, so maybe it'll be helpful to others. Nice to be moving (I think) toward a fix. I also use a higher priority with VoxATC which ensures smooth operation of that excellent addon.
June 17, 201312 yr I've OPUS FSX and can't praise it enough, it's the best for for me, make low vis approaches really come true to life. On the point that a user made earlier about specific weather conditions at airports known for their weather, that's something I'd really like to see in OPUS FSX as well. I remember my first time flying into Madeira, the wind shifts are like nothing you've ever seen before LOL... ^_^ Now THAT'S what flying is all about... Regards, Ró. That is something I think all weather engine devs should pick up on B) It takes FSX to the next level, good stuff. If they let this slide I think FSGRW eventually gonna win the race of becoming the number1 weather engine out there. When Opus came out it was a mass hysteria how good that engine was etc. I can't believe FSGRW hasn't got more attention as they have something that no other weather engines have(they relly deserve attention for inventing new stuff).
June 17, 201312 yr Opus is the king of low level cloud and visibility depiction, hands down. The lasting flaw with Opus, however, is the inability of the program to smooth cloud and wind transitions during online weather updates. They've made some progress with the last few program versions, but unless you can simply live with banks of clouds suddenly disappearing and reappearing in totally different places, along with 180 wind shifts at times with online updates, I can't recommend it for the hardcore simmer. Honestly, if Opus could just offer an option to download global weather data all at once and never update via the internet, it would be great (albeit with somewhat outdated weather upon arrrival). They've included a cloud smoothing feature and a slew of wind smoothing options in the latest releases, but these features only somewhat mitigate cloud and wind shifts (along with mild stuttering) during online updates. Fix this lingering problem and Opus could be great.

June 18, 201312 yr You can.........just set the update interval to something very high like 500 mins and 3000 miles. Hi Glenn, True, but Opus still only builds a 800 square mile or so 'weather picture' with each online update. Should you fly out of this area before on online update refreshes this weather picture, the atmospheric conditions at your actual position will not be correct. I'm certainly not dissing Opus in any way; I think the program has excellent future potential. Hopefully the developers will eventually fix the online update weather jitters most people currently experience.
June 19, 201312 yr Author The US company is PPL, I work for one of their subsidiaries in England. Yes, there are some great places to visit in the UK. I know PPL very well. See their building (tallest one in Allentown) every day. They are a top employer and one of the best companies to work for here. Congrats. Stan
