June 15, 201312 yr Shalom and greetings all my pals,I just bought Aerosoft Anchorage X for sale price of 22 bucks.Any advice on this software before I proceed with installation of PANC scenery, please?I certainly hope it will NOT affect my laptop's frame impact or memory resources!!Regards,Aharon
June 15, 201312 yr Ever addon scenery, especially big airports affect performance. The more you add to the game, the more it affects performance. As for advice, if you already bought it, install and check it out. If it doesn't work for you, uninstall it. Best, Michael KDFW
June 25, 201312 yr Be curious to hear how the OP got on with PANC's performance, heh. I know it runs pretty poorly on my system unless I turn lots of stuff down.
June 25, 201312 yr Author Very Bumpy, I have not yet installed it. What are your pc's specs, please? Regards, Aharon

June 25, 201312 yr This is an excellent airport but will come at a cost no way around it. Rich Sennett
June 25, 201312 yr This is my favorite scenery for any airport... When I first got it, my PC at the time was body slammed into the ground and was basically unflyable. I use UT Alaska as well and the combo was a frame killer destroyer What I did was take the UT AK down to minimum settings and slowly started lowering global sliders. I did become flyable and of course I got totally hooked on it as I fly Alaska almost exclusively... It was the inspiration for a new PC and in the end I up graded to Win 7 64 and the PC you see in my specs at left. Bottom line... It is now smooth as silk and I can run both UT AK X and Aerosoft ANCX at any setting. It is well worth the money but your concern about it being hard on frames and resources is well-founded. I would try what Michael said... Install and see how it goes... If it does OK you will be glad you bought it. Jeff NorthLink VA - Commerce & Community in Northern North America!
June 25, 201312 yr Have not loaded it on my new system bet it will pretty nice now, have to check it out soon. Rich Sennett
June 25, 201312 yr Bottom line... It is now smooth as silk and I can run both UT AK X and Aerosoft ANCX at any setting. I find this hard to believe, see pics. (translation: maybe there is something a miss on my system). This is looking around from the tower view.
June 26, 201312 yr Verybumpy, Hard to believe perhaps, ...I will get you screenies for proof... also, are you getting those frames using FRAPS? I am getting, on the ground, a minimum of 24. It is smooth and no latency. I use FSX for my frame-rate quote. I have the railroad running and ground services. Approaches in weather used to create a slide-show on final. Not any more... From the looks I may be running more stock AI jet-wise I do notice in your screen shot something that may be different and that is my wx view is set to 60 miles. I stand corrected on sliders at max on that point. But otherwise I am getting the same clear view. Based on your monitor I imagine yours is clearer in person as I recently changed to 1080p LCD TV with mediocre resolution. There are a couple of differences on our very similar systems. One, I used 2 SSD's, one for OS and one for FSX, I have more video memory (though I have no idea if this makes any difference) I am running the 3570K at stock clock speed. And am on Win 7 64... So perhaps I am lucky. ...and that is ok with me.... I suffered with a low-end PC for so many years it is a wonder I kept up on the hobby. And for those interested Aerosoft Fairbanks X is very nice as well.. In fact, flights between these two airports is scenic in every way. Take care, Jeff NorthLink VA - Commerce & Community in Northern North America!
July 2, 201312 yr Author Thanks all for explanations Have NOT had a chance to install that scenery!!! LOL Aharon
July 2, 201312 yr I find this hard to believe, see pics. (translation: maybe there is something a miss on my system). It's possible, I run PANC with Alaska X and Orbx Alaska with constant 30FPS in any GA plane, with extremely dense autogen, around 25FPS in the NGX(normal autogen settings). All I did was changing the special type of autogen to normal autogen for the Ancourage area in the ATX control panel, also disabled some traffic around the airport(have to make some comprimises)...
July 2, 201312 yr Weirdly, my experience was that Anchorage X was basically unusable with UT Alaska (even with settings massively lowered) but FPS increased massively when I installed Orbx SAK. I had assumed that it was the PANC scenery that was killing my performance, not UT Alaska, but the fact that PANC worked pretty well with Orbx suggests that it was the Anchorage area in UT Alaska that was simply badly optimized (it looks great in the Orbx version--arguably better, in fact). July 2, 201312 yr I had assumed that it was the PANC scenery that was killing my performance, not UT Alaska, It's UT Alaska that kills performance when you have that "special" autogen enabled, switching it to normal autogen for the Ancourage area will boost the performance alot. I had to do the same in Fairbanks X. Now have have just as good performance wether I use UT Alaska or Orbx.
