June 16, 201312 yr Hello, I would be interested in knowing how be users use the flight simulators FSX and Prepar3D. Meanwhile there are many addons which have P3D installers. But for some of them it is not allowed to use them in P3D. Moreover the PMDG T7 will probably not be functioning with P3D, apart from this it would be not allowed to use this addon with P3D, too. So, do you use FSX only, P3D only or both together? Patric
June 16, 201312 yr Using FSX only for the time being. Would not buy P3D until (1) Lockheed Martin demonstrates that they are committed to P3D as a commercial product, not just as a sideline to a DoD training product, and (2) they offer P3D with a reasonable EULA. Another way you can get a feel for the relative number of FSX and P3D users is to note the numbers of participants in the respective forums on this and other flight sim web sites. June 16, 201312 yr My FSX Stopped working about a year ago,Instead of doing a total reinstall I decided to go with P3D,I like the fact that P3D is still being supported and improved, plus for me it's much more stable than my FSX install was. 100%75%50%d8a34be0e82d98b5a45ff4336cd0dddc Patrick
June 16, 201312 yr Another way you can get a feel for the relative number of FSX and P3D users is to note the numbers of participants in the respective forums on this and other flight sim web sites. As a 100% Prepar3D user, I still visit the FSX forum much more often than the P3D forum. 99% of the topics here are relevant to P3D, and this forum is much more active. -
June 16, 201312 yr I bought and own both FSX and P3D, but P3D is currenty shelved for me, due to graphical glitches with the ATC window, map, kneeboard, etc, that I think may occur due to my ATI card. But I hope that one day I will be on a 64 bit, robust P3D platform, 100%
June 16, 201312 yr Since I can't foresee RXP ever updating their products to x64 I doubt I'll ever completely move to something other than FSX. Been trying to get into XP10 but it has some major bugs in x64 too. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

June 16, 201312 yr P3D (for Aerosoft Greek island hopping  ) and waiting to try ORBX global soon.
June 16, 201312 yr I'm using FSX only at the moment, but if P3D v.2 with DX11 and x64 support is released, I might consider switching. Florian
June 16, 201312 yr Author OK, it was foreseeable, that there are more "FSX only" than "P3D only" users out there. The poll is not very old, but I'm surprised by the small amount of users are using FSX and P3D together. I'm a "P3D only" user for one year, but in the meanwhile there are some addons I do not want to miss any longer. So I thought I will use my FSX for all FSX addons and P3D with better graphics for all native P3D addons - but this way seems to be not very popular. Patric
June 16, 201312 yr I was on P3D, now I am back to FSX with only selected add-ons, and I found that significantly reduces or eliminated FSX stability issues. Now I add one add-on at a time and will remove it immediately if it causes issue. I was on XP10 but I got rid of that too because the learning curve for using the interface is not intuitive, and frankly I don't have much free time to waste on multiple FS. When P3D v2.0 comes out I will take a look again. Vu Pham i7-13700K 5.2 GHz OC, 64 GB RAM, RTX5090, SSD for Sim, SSD for system. MSFS2020, XP-12, DCS
